Prior experience includes 4 years self employed, 20 years as a sales representative, and 5 years in the United States Navy. Professional Adjusting Experience: Independent adjuster - working with T.M. Mayfield & Co. Duties include organizing files, locating risk via mapping, communicating with property owners and carriers, inspecting damaged property, interpreting policy language, preparing adjusters estimate of repairs and captioned photo report, prepare full captioned reports to the insurance carrier with recommended payment, preparing a proof of loss and final closing reports. Much of the correspondence with the insurance carrier and home office is electronic via e-mail. Proficient in SimSol adjusting software, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Tasks include transferring data from peripheral devices into computer, scanning documents, preparing reports using Microsoft Word then converting into a PDF format and preparing adjuster estimates using SimSol estimating software. JUN ’07 – NOV ‘07 - Worked in a temporary office assist position for the Auto Club Group (AAA Michigan) handling homeowners claims (H3, H4, H5, H6, H7, & M3 [mobile home]) working as a desk adjuster. We had authority to close claims with a total loss value of $5000. Also handled limited number of field inspections for Michigan Basic Property Insurance Assn., Met Life. Auto & Home, and AAA Michigan. JAN ‘07 - Obtained Michigan non-resident adjuster license #0424310 AUG ’06 – Obtained Florida non-resident adjuster license. AUG ’06 - ObtainedMississippi non-resident adjuster license. JUN ’06 – Obtained Flood adjuster license. Fall ’05 - Hurricane Katrina – Handledlocal property claims. Remained in my local area and received additional regular business claims as well as re-inspectsfrom hurricane Ivan. Many of the re-inspects involved clients who were not satisfied with the settlement recommended by their previous adjuster. My task was to meet with the insured, determine the dispute, and collect the required documentation necessary to settle the claim and close the file. JUL ‘05 – Hurricane Dennis – Responsible for H06 & H03 property claims along the Alabama gulf coast. SEP ’04 - Hurricane Ivan – Responsible for over 300 property claims in southern part of Baldwin County, AL. These were primarily H06 condominium claims but included over 50 H03 primary residences. Reported to Lexington Insurance Co and Certain Underwriters at Lloyds, London (Arcadian Risk Managers and Kimbrell) in their preferred format AUG ‘04 – Hurricane Francis – Responsible for ICP2000 (mobile homes) property claims in central and north Florida. This damage to mobile homes was reported in short form format; electronically. SEP ’03 – Hurricane Isabel – Traveled to Elizabeth City, NC and assisted in the handling of H03 claims under the guidance of an experienced adjuster. Reporting was in ‘short form’ format and submitted on paper. Reported to NCJUA. OCT ’01 – Obtained Alabama resident adjuster license. Other Experience JAN ‘01 – SEP ’04 – Self Employed. Began a Limited Liability Corporation (PolySeal LLC) offering plural component spray services to industrial and commercial clients. Applied plural component coatings for roofing applications and corrosion protection. Responsible for company management, sales, job supervision, and coatings application as well as equipment maintenance and company operation. Also worked local regular business claims and hurricane Isabel during this period. DEC ’84 – Jan ‘01 - Thompson Equipment Company – Sales representative accountable for sales and marketing of process control instrumentation to chemical, petro-chemical, and paper manufacturers throughout the southeast. Responsibilities included account management and development, product training for clients, expanding client base, limited installation and start-up assistance, and product service. This sales experience with exposure to different people in a variety of settings provided me with unsurpassed opportunities to develop communicating skills. These skills are crucial when dealing with insured’s after a loss. DEC ‘81 – DEC ’84 – Breard-Gardner, Inc. -Sales representative in the process control instrumentation industry. Hired in Baton Rouge,LA then immediately moved back to Mobile,AL to open a branch office and expand the company’s sales presence into this area. SEP ’80 – DEC ’81 – Allen & Associates – Sales representative in the process control instrumentation industry. Hired by Jim Allen and trained under his tutelage in the industrial facilities of southeast LA. Quickly acquired product knowledge and sole account responsibility. SEP’ 75 – SEP ‘80 – United States Navy – Trained as a Tradevman. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of T-2 flight simulators on the Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL. After approximately 2 years in the department, was assigned as maintenance supervisor. During my 5 years in the military I was promoted to a rank of E-6 and designated as ‘Sailor of the Month’ for the Naval Air Station. Honorably discharged in SEP 1980.
