"The exact number of claims for hail damage to vehicles and homes in Llano and Burnet counties is a moving target, according to Jerry Johns, a spokesman for the Southwestern Insurance Institute in Austin.
“There will be tens of thousands before it is all said and done,” said Johns.
More than 8,300 auto claims and 4,400 home claims had been filed with State Farm in the Marble Falls and Austin areas as of Monday morning and the numbers were growing.
“The claims are higher for autos than homes, which is kind of unusual,” Johns said. “People were simply trapped in traffic which explains why there are large numbers of auto claims,” he added.
The storm arrived in Llano and Burnet counties just in time for the drive home after work for many, he said.
An estimated $150 million in damage was caused to homes and vehicles in the storm path from Llano to Austin."
