The winter weather has wreaked havoc on New Englanders' commute this year, but it's also been a problem for home owners and their insurance agencies.
According to the Newport News, Connecticut State Farm agents have filed at least 200 weather-related insurance claims from local homeowners already. With the winter season still young, local insurance experts want to make sure their fellow residents aren't victims of significant financial loss.
For example, Gerard O'Sullivan, program director for the Connecticut Department of Insurance, told the paper residents should file an insurance claims as soon as damage is observed. Because insurance claims provisions vary, O'Sullivan said any further damage may make a claim null and void.
