Here's a chance for CADO readers to post their prognostications for what the New Year 2003 will mean to us both as cat adjusters and Americans {or 'Canadians' [Canada: an American 'suburb'] in Clayton's case :>) }.
Will we go to war with Iraq?
Will there be hurricane work this year?
Will America be shocked with more terrorism at home?
Will adjusting fee schedules go down?
Will the stock market rebound from 3 years of losses in a row?
Will cat adjusting be more OR less profitable than last year?

I hope I don't create too much of a stir
But prognosticate I can
As I am at least a North American
We will go to war with Iraq
Because the SOB has created quite an itch, in GW's back
I say we, the war we will fight
Because we want to be there with your Might
There will be hurricane work next year
But no bad storms to land and cause great fear
But it is of concern to me, what the carriers will see
As the best 'system' to do the job and earn the fee
It bothers me to think of terrorism, at your 'home' or mine
But we are in a world, where terror is part of the time
I hope it doesn't happen, next year or after
But we all must be strong and watchful, for evil disaster
Adjusting fees will go down, I have said that before
It will be that way, until the day, we offer more things at the door
The Vendor looks for unit volume, the Carrier has another care
When we accept that challenge, we will get a better share
The stock market will rebound, war does bring that around
Old market blue chip stocks will win the round
I'll have to learn to use and trust Ameritrade
So I can get on the bandwagon parade
Cat adjusting will be less profitable, as things get more dear
I've already said the fees will go down, the rest is economics I fear
But then again, there is more than one way to adjust a cat
As carriers try some alternatives, some contractors will get fat
I do not have 'ESP Smarts', I just see a bit more of the same
It is up to us, to adjust our game
I've just finished a lovely dinner, with my sweety who is the 'one'
If we try harder and work smarter, we can be the group that won |

Its sabre rattling time, for things to change Sadam has to do something stupid. It could be provoked through Israel, they may be the first to clean his clock.
He, (Sadam) may take the preemtive initiative against Israel to draw support from other Arab leaders.
There will be about the same threat of terrorizm, more from within than without. We have our own terrorists with the sick society of today. We have too many people with warped causes, and all the wackos are listening.
We may have the same quantity of disasters as this year, discounting the WTC, And the last half of this year provided more work than the previous 24 months.
The adjuster fees will continue to decline for a period, depending on the cost of living index. The rates have not kept up and even declined in some cases. The feast of Andrew,Hogo and others
have put stars in the eyes of many that will slowly fade. Thus to put food on the table, many people will work for less. It's a simple matter of feast or famine or supply and demand.
The stock market will take about eight years to rally, it was inflated to say the least. The inflation will continue at a rate of maybe ten percent a year in the market. It will then be back and take another dive starting the cycle over. Each cycle sees the numbers growing larger.
The market was only robust on paper, the people who made the most were con men who ran things in the largest companys. If the accounting were proper there never could have been a boom to the extent it appeared to be.
Will we be better off in the future, no, just a little older. With all the nagging problems of over control of our personal life, the shirking of responsibility for our own actions and deligating them to the government. Too many non-productive people with stupid causes trying to force their will or ideas on other people with the help of government lifers with self serving plans.
We will still have the pseudo intellectuals with their snoots in the trough of government grants studying ways to make everything life threatning, endangered or racist.
We will still have educators(not teachers) trying to blackmail the public for more money, when all the time they are a dismal failure at teaching the basics and any kind of morality. You don't need computers and expensive buildings to teach reading. It doesn't take 7000 dollars a year to teach working math with a pencil , especially when the student provides the pencil and paper and buys the books. Educators without values will not teach them, period.

Maybe we'll get past Sadam (or more likley he'll go), and we can start to worry about a more serious proble, North Korea.
Odds are for a hurricane were there are people this year, even Dr Grey after this (self procalmed) great forcast this year says more active.
Terrorism at home, possible but I suspect anything big will be in Europe.
Fees will stay steady and the market will make more money ofr th erich at the expense of those who can be scard by ever 1 cent decline in profitd.
I suspect january will be a better money for us Cat types then any month in 02. Seems like lots are working and not just mold.
Wild prediction of the year. Hilary will break up with Bill and be seen dating Trent Lott.

I predict that after a massive military buildup, Sadam will either be assasinated or flee to Cuba with a suitcase full of gold. The new regime in Baghdad will envite the US in and like we have for decades we will bestow billions of dollars of foreign aid on them even though they hate us.
There will be 3 hurricanes making ladfall this year 1 major, 2 cat 2's. All on the east coast.
There will be terrorism in the US but not as big as 9/11 and Brittain will also be attacked.
Fees will stay the same.
The stock market will end the year above 10,000.
As always, cat adjusting will be profitable for some and not so profitable for others.
My longshot predictions of the year, the Atlanta Falcons win the Superbowl and the largest hail storm in history blankets the midwest with baseball sized stones from Oklahoma to Wisconsin. |
