Be careful on handling or you could run a foul of an Insured and end up settling for less than a poultry amount. |

As most of you know already, when handling damaged food products in a loss situation, there are federal rules which MAY prevent the salvage of food (as well as liquor and pharmaceutical drugs), and which WILL REQUIRE the destruction of such food, as well as wine, beer, liquor and drugs. An adjuster friend of mine once handled a truck cargo claim and had to dispose of 20,000 Snickers bars.
Wonder if there are any volunteers around to help with such 'destruction'? |

had two claims on flying pigs? Thats the best I can think of now. One fell out a pickup truck and went through a fast food restaurant sign and the other was a hot air balloon lost in a storm that was tied to a meat place. Can you imagine what people were thinking sitting on their porch and seeing a flying pig go by?

Heat will cause a liquor bottle to expand, the metal cap may expand further than the glass neck and when the bottle starts to cool the vacumn produced will suck products of combustion back into the bottle. When completely cooled the bottle will reseal.
I am certain that the guvernment will be involved in the turkey claim.
Most likely some of the waste truck drivers "gobbled" up some turkey. Real "butterballs." |

While working a hail storm in rural MO. I had just got off a roof, and started down the road. It was my last appointment of the day. I saw a large pillar of smoke rising from the treetops. Being a firefighter my adrenaline started pumping. I keep my gear with me in my truck. I thought, ” I get to play ”. I was in a very rural area and figured the local boys would appreciate the help. I tried to drive to where the smoke was coming from and couldn't find a road leading to it. I parked and walked down a creek and found a new Dodge Stratus fully involved shooting flames about 30' in the air. I got back to the road and used the radio in my truck to call dispatch for a pumper. After about a 20 minute wait, a county deputy showed up. I took him down the creek and showed him the car. By this time the fire had almost burned out and was just glowing red. We could now get close enough to see inside it.
I had figured that since there were no roads leading to this area, the car was probably stolen, and was burned to rid it of prints. I was terribly mistaken.......You guessed it....
She was 83 and lived up the road. She had driven across her yard, through her chain-link fence, across a field and into a tree at the bottom of the creek-bed. The neighbors said that she had a terminal illness. The MO Highway Patrol Refused to even entertain the thought that this was not an accedent. I'm glad I didn't have to work this claim.
I was shaken the rest of the day. |

I was assigned a liability claim at a rendering plant. A semi full of chicken parts, lots of feets and beaks, was being delivered. The driver parked the truck on an incline but failed to properly set the brakes. The truck rolled down the hill into the neighbors field where it did a couple flips spreading the chicken parts around. Had to pay the bill for a couple guys from manpower to pick up all the chicken parts. |
