The "accurate count" you seek would be and is impossible to derive (short of having every single carrier in a particular market report their claims in arrears to some central reporting agency) so the ISO estimates are probably the best gauge around.

The exercise which Clayton was trying so futilely to conduct here on CADO would have been an excellent gauge for us to use as one more measuring tool to indicate employment trends, but as you will note from a review of that thread, there was very little interest from the audience in providing the essential data necessary to substantiate any clear and accurate statistical trending.

The last count i had was 285,000 total. With more to follow, as the neighboritis settled in.

The Loss amounts started at 1.5 Billion and the last report I heard was over 2 Billion.

The losses in the May3-4-5-6-Storm in 6 states was set at 2.2 Billion.
