Kile like everone else I'm hoping. I don't use my fifth wheel during the winter unless it's in a warm climate. I pack it as soon as I see it is starting to thaw. I have two of just about everthing packed in it and this keeps packing or unpacking to just a few minutes. Like cus, Linda, I have a lot of toys and equipement. When I need it I have it. The difference being my truck doesn't have to go throu a major overhaul to get someone else in it. I have everthing I need on a claim stored in the truck out of the way and ready to use, a palce for everthing.
Michael I was raised in Levelland and Lubbock. As in a prior post I pulled my 27' fifth wheel with a 6 cylinder for F150 supercab. I recently traded it for an F350 crewcab, dually with a diesel. Even with the F150 I normally pull at about 70 mph and haven't had a problem getting to a storm. I Lubbock I called SWB and they told me it would be two weeks before they could install service. I explained I was with the State Farm Catastrphe Team and they had it installed within two hours. I wouldn't use it on a small strom as it wouldn't be worth it. It takes maybe an hour to set up the trailer and the office and maybe an hour to tear down and hook up. Some RV parks have local phone service at the park, for a small fee and you don't have to order service. Most have internet acecss at the office or the recreation room. As in fee schedules, know before you go. I use the Woodall's camp ground directory and call ahead to reserve and check out services at the park. It takes a little longer to get there puuling my trailer but if I'm staying for a while the savings are great. I paid ($250 per month compared the $250 a week in Lubbock, including phone and electric) ( $350 a month compared to $350 a week In San Antonio and Harlingen, including electric). In Harlingen and San Antonio there was an internet conection at the recreation room. Both of these assignments were for Mold and I did not neeed a phone to contact the insured or use the internet for bsiness. In all cases I had my own private space and wasn't paying for a piece of paper. You can take the interest off of income taxes as a second home and use perdiem as a deduction. Everyone has their own way of doing things. I just like the fax that I don't have to load and unload everthing. If you enjoy camping you may may enjoy being an RV adjuster. The only way you will know is to try it one time when you know your going to be at a storm for a while. Just make sure you have a comfordable place to work that is not confining, dont like working from a dinnet and do not have one in my RV. As you know the wall can close in on you the longer you live in an RV.
Just my thoughts.
