Windstorm Insurance Conference Mark your calendar for February 4-7, 2004, the dates of the Fifth Annual Windstorm Insurance Conference to be held at the Sheraton Hotel in New Orleans, LA, located within walking distance to the French Quarter.
Windstorm Insurance Conference Golf Tournament The conference golf tournament will take place on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Lakewood Golf Club, minutes from downtown New Orleans. The schedule of events begins at 12:30 p.m. with registration and a shotgun start. Early registration is $80 for forms postmarked by January 10, 2004. After January 10, registration is $90 per person. The fee includes dinner after the tournament, a Windstorm Insurance Network golf shirt and prizes.
About the Conference The conference, which is co-sponsored by the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association and PIPSO (Property Insurance Plans Service Office, Inc.) , is designed to provide a variety of workshops created on specific tracks for insurance agents, catastrophe adjusters, public adjusters, risk managers, engineers and other experts and counsel. It is hoped that by bringing together all of the segments of the insurance industry that deal with the impact of a windstorm, a greater understanding can be developed in dealing with windstorm issues. Last year, approximately 500 people attended the three-day conference.
Schedule of Events The conference will offer a lineup of keynote and highlight speakers, including National Hurricane Center Director Max Mayfield, and almost 30 professional workshops. This year, an educational and entertaining mock trial will be held on the final conference day. Topics include mold and mildew issues, storm claims, windstorm/hail damage, condo association risk analysis, policyholder communications, new building codes and more. In addition, continuing education credits will be offered by The Florida Bar, Florida Department of Insurance, RPA and CPCU. Certification programs will be offered by the National Flood Insurance Program.
Registration Early registration fees before December 13, 2003 are $265 for current WIND members and $305 for non-members. Regular registration fees after December 13, 2003 are $295 for current WIND members and $345 for non-members. After January 10, 2004, registration fees are $395 for late and on-site registration.
