Recently applied for a Minnesota IA license, I thought that the reprocity from Florida or Texas, would be enough, received a letter that I must take an exam, problem is the exams are in Minnesota, anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any ideas other than a looong drive and a couple of days,

I think that if you go to the Sircon website, you will find out that you can apply for a MN license if you have a TX resident license. I was there recently. It appeared to me that you coud do that. |

- Complete the Adjuster license application online at
- Adjuster license fee is $50.

Yep, thats about the same as the letter I got from Minnesota, I have a Non Resident Texas and Florida, Indiana where I live doe not have licensing, If I understand this right , then I go to the Sircon site and still take a test?? Seems Im missing something or to damn tired, any chance you can expand this so a dummy can understand,

I admit that I must be missing something, I just checked the sites listed and again the testing sites are in Mn. Does anybody know if an on line testing program is available?? Not sure if this is because of the Non Resident licensing or not, but dont really want to drive ten hours each way for a one hour test,

I sent you a private email but your screener delayed it.
What I told you was that you do NOT have to take a test if you have a license from a State that requires a written test like TEXAS.
Sircon charges $64.40 to process your application. |

In answer to your question if you can get a Texas non-resident license from Indiana, a state that apparently does not require testing. See below.
You will have to take a test, as everyone does who is not licensed in a state that has reciprocity with Texas, before you can get the Texas license, non-resident or resident makes no difference. Texas has reciprocity with 33 states as Texas, We, have strict CE requirements and a test of your knowledge before you get your license. There are some on line education providers that you can take the test on line from anyplace. You do not have to come to TX to take the test.

Sircon can check on line to verify that you have a Tx non-resident license. MN will probably accept that from them and issue you a license. Go to Sircon and apply. They will tell if you need something else. |

I had the same experience after I got my TX license which is reciprocal with GA. However, I lived in Louisiana (did not require licensing) at the time* and GA required me to take another test even though I had a reciprocal license. The GA license is not reciprocal with a Nonresident Texas license. I spoke with the GA DOI and the clerk's supervisor who explained it to me.
I wouldn't be surprised if the same case applies to you. So, if you want that MN license, get ready to study for another test.
*As of this year, LA now requires licensing. |

I am from the confusing state of Minnesota. It' s Been a few years, but the testing Co. was Experian or somethng close to that. Try to look them up and ask if they have it in your state. The test was very involved study your HO3 policy book. Also a lot of buisiness questions. hope this helps.. |
