What we ponder and what we think about sets the course of our life. Any day we wish; we can discipline ourselves to change it all. Any day we wish, we can open the book that will open our mind to new knowledge. Any day we wish, we can start a new activity. Any day we wish, we can start the process of life change. We can do it immediately, or next week, or next month, or next year. We can also choose to be condescending, selfish, and critical of others, which creates or constructs nothing positive.

We can also do nothing. We can pretend rather than perform. And if the idea of having to change ourselves makes us uncomfortable, we can remain as we are. We can choose rest over labor, entertainment over education, delusion over truth, and doubt over confidence. The choices are ours to make. But while we curse the effect, we continue to nourish the cause. We create our circumstances by our past choices. We have both the ability and the responsibility to make better choices beginning today.
Knowledge is infinite, as is growth to know ones self. Each day has its own opening and possibility. Grow to what you can be and want to be. Become an adjuster that many will envy and encourage others to follow suit. Learn, teach, nurture others, and mentor those who truly wish to learn, regardless of experience.

For your review and pleasure.    http://www.The212movie.com

Tom,

I've missed this thread, the messages were always a source of inspiration to me, I'm glad you picked it back up!  And, gee, what a way to start it off, that was a very powerful message.  I've always believed that you need to carefully analyze things in life before you quit, you could just be quitting a day or moment too soon, and the "212" reinforces that belief.

Thanks for the inspiration, a great message that everyone should thoughtfully consider.

I assume that this thread continues the old Knowledge and Attitude thread from the old version of CADO.  If so, here's my contribution:

"You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you do not trust enough."  Dr. Frank Crane

I've noticed that a pitfall of most adjusters is to grow into a state of cynicism and mistrust.  This is especially prevalent for those in SIU departments.  After all, it is our job to produce the most accurate value of a claim whether it is a third or first party claim.

In adjusting claims, it is easy to fall into the trap of second-guessing your customers far too much- thereby missing out on the fact that we are in the Customer Service sector.  Balance is crucial.

Something is wrong here, I could not make a separate post and had to do it as a quote/reply...but anyway, my words of wisdom for the day:

The cow that reaches her head through the fence gets the greenest grass.  The calf that crawls through the fence gets run over.

P.S. Roy: your spellcheck isn't working again! I'm Postive!

Edit By Roy:  I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to make a separate post.  In order to reply to a thread all you need to do is click the "Reply" button, this is not a "Quote".

Also, the spell  check works for IE but not for FireFox, what browser are you using? Please see the Spell Check thread in the Suggestion Box forum.

I already have more knowledge...it looked like a copy/quote/reply, but wasn't.   This is going to take some getting used to!

Picture yourself vividly as winning and that alone will contribute immeasurably to success.  Great living starts with a picture, held in your imagination, of what you would like to do or be.

Here's a list that might uplift those needing a boost on how "Attitude" plays a part in success, especially if you did not finish college. Remember these people are Billionaires. Forbes list of the Top 50 Richest People : www.forbes.com/billionaires. The top 15 of the list: 4 graduated with only a BA in arts/science, 10 dropped out and 1 dropped out of highschool. Out of the 50 the list measured aprox. 60% non grads to 40% grads.(With only 1 in 50 that had a PHD). Out of the 50 richest (15 inherited their fortune) so that means the other 35 used their "Knowledge and Attitude" and pioneered new fortunes!!!  CARPE DIEM

From Will Rogers:

1.  Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.

2.  Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

3.  There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman...neither works.

4.  Never miss a good chance to shut up.

5.  Always drink upstream from the herd.

6.  If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

7.  The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.

8.  Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

9.  If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there..

10.  Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.

11.  After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring.  He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him.  The moral:
When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

Courage comes from wanting to do it well.
Security comes from knowing you can do it well.
Confidence comes from having done it well.
Are you doing it well? Learn, Learn, Learn.

A message every adult should read, because children are watching you and doing as you do, not as you say. Adults also watch and react to what you say and do.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's alright to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, 'Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'

Each of us (parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher or friend) influences the life of a child. How will you touch the life of someone today?

The real person you are is revealed in the moments when you're certain no other person is watching.  When no one is watching, you are driven by what you expect of yourself.

Please understand my friends, that where you find yourself tomorrow is a function of the positive decisions and actions you take today. Negativity is just as deadly to the mind as fear.

You are not here merely to make a living.  You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement.  Money in no way can find you happiness. That must be found within yourself. It is not possible to stay positive 24 hours per day, I don't care who you are. But, if you re-inforce yourself with kindness and consideration of others, that happy day will return. Some say I post positve remarks to re-inforce my own weakness's. That might be true, I don't think it is because of who I am. I have always tried to respect  and to help others as much as possible. You don't gain respect in any field of endeavor by calling people names like, moron, idiot, etc.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

One can stomp one's own wine...

To thine self it may smell sweet, while to others it just smells like your feet,

No harbors we meet, but to all we ponder your venturous feat,

While I dig this most humble hole of mine,

Where do some come up with all so benign?
