Time is running out for rabbit ears

Analog TV broadcasts are set to end in '09, but most viewers are unaware, survey says.

Q : What happens this month?

A : All new television sets designed to receive over-the-air signals must contain a tuner capable of receiving digital broadcasts, in preparation for a complete transition to digital broadcasts by 2009. Retailers no longer can sell analog-only sets.

New autopilot will make another 9/11 impossible

A hijack-proof piloting system for airliners is being developed to prevent terrorists repeating the 9/11 outrages.

The so-called 'uninterruptible autopilot system' - patented secretly by Boeing in the US last week - will connect ground controllers and security services with the aircraft using radio waves and global satellite positioning systems.

"Once this system is initiated, no one on board is capable of controlling the flight, making it useless for anyone to threaten violence in order to gain control."

I even heard there is an estimating program using a computer, which is capable of calculating damages to a dwelling. You just punch in the measurements and it figures out the square footage. No longer will we need to write an estimate using carbon paper and adding machines, attaching the adding machine tape with no more than three whiteouts per estimate page. Awesome. Think of the time saved.    :-)

Bill Gates sees tech revolution without limits
Thu Apr 19, 2007 6:21am ET

BEIJING (Reuters) - Technology will keep getting better and better rather than plateauing out, with the humble keyboard making way for speech recognition software as standard, Microsoft Corp. Chairman Bill Gates said on Thursday.

"I'm often asked, is the technology revolution going to reach an end? Is the improvement in the chips and the software, will that start to slow down as we reach some limits?" he told a forum in Beijing.

"The answer is -- certainly in the decades ahead -- we don't see any limits. We see in fact the power will just get better and better."….
