In another thread, Roy had asked for an update on NAPICA - National Association of Professional Insurance Claims Adjusters (R).

The main impetus behind the formation of that organization was to have and provide access to affordable Health Insurance for cat adjusters. As  independent contractors, health insurance at affordable rates is always a problem. The major plans that were possible would all require a minimum of 1000 participants to be able to get the best rates.

After working on this and putting a lot of effort into building the foundation, I came to the realization that a large percentage of cat adjusters just don't give a crap about moving this industry forward and establishing a higher sense of professionalism. Far too many just want things handed to them on a platter or are afraid that they could not meet the qualifications of a professional adjuster.

To say I am frustrated with the state of this industry would be an understatement.

(Oh, and that thing that Roy Estes "founded"... NIAA... originally known as NOAPIA...showed up a few days AFTER I e-mailed him a copy of the Constitution & By-Laws for NAPICA looking for his in-put ... co-incidence??? Also went to a few other people that are now on their Board of Directors.)

You can see more about NAPICA @ http://d1012168.domain.com/3gorillagroup/

Sincerely,

Kevin Hromas

Kevin

Most of us pride ourselves as being "independent" independent adjusters. We don't play well with others, as in large groups. This isn't the first attempt to organize that failed and it won't be the last. In a perfect world we'd all get along and agree that this is a good deal for all, but it isn't and we don't.

Don't get upset, just understand what you're dealing with.

I for one consider myself an independent adjuster. I also think of myself as a maverick and a professional businessman. I have found it necessary in the business world to form relationships, network, participate in professional organizations and to interact with other people in order for my business to prosper and grow. If I stood on the sideline as a loner and feel that I did not need anyone I would not have made it very far.

Your post is almost philosophical. As past president of a professional org. I guarantee there is a need for us to organize and band together. I feel that there are to many independent independents that aren't professional enough to recognize the need.

Be it Kevin's are Roy's everyone needs to consider where our industry is today and where it is going tomorrow. Traders Ficus could be a real threat and industry changing event. After last year carriers are probably considering options we don't have a clue about.

Your right it won't be the first nor the last but at least someone is trying to make a difference which all adjuster might benefit from in the future.
