I have been an Xact user for years and downloaded the 30-day trial of Simsol.  Installed it and started to familiarize myself with its components.  Then, I needed to use Penpro also to write a vehicle estimate.  Would not work.  Apparently, Penpro and Simsol use a similar databse engine and Simsol prevented Penpro from running.  I had to  uninstall Simsol and delete a command line in the MDE Administrator in order to get Penpro to run again.  Any idea on how to allow both to run on same laptop?

This is a known issue with Penpro and Simsol. The BDE in Penpro is out of date in some of its older installs. It is recommend you do the latest install of Penpro so that there is no long a conflict. Hope this helps, feel free to post any other questions on this subject and we will get back to you ASAP.

I did to a new, fresh install with current Penpro software.  Still did the same thing.

Let's try downloading and installing the BDE Client, which is available on SIMSOL’s, downloads page. The download can be found here http://www.simsol.com/Help%20Downloads/bde.exe. Go ahead and download this file, save it to your desktop and run it, make sure that SIMSOL is closed before you run the install. Once this has completed try restarting your system and see if this helps resolve your issue. Hopefully this will take care of the problems you are experiencing, however should the issue persist please let us know.

Thank you,

Simsol Support
