I have been using v28 for several years now and from the day of install the program has had delays and lag in every aspect of preparing an estimate. The lag/delays become longer and more frequent the longer the program is running where unless I close/reopen xact it will eventually crash. I have spent countless hours with Xact tech help where they have taken over my laptop and done an endless number of things to try and improve performance but nothing ever works. I've had my computer cleaned, inspected etc with no improvements. Even though my laptop far exceeded what was required to run xact I convinced myself it was my laptop so I went and spent $2000 on a new one with even more memory and power in hopes that my troubles would go away, but the second I opened xact on my new laptop I had the same lag and delays. So by trial and error the issue is with the program itself which has been supported by many other forums Ive read. It seems like there are things running in the background that didnt exist in 27.5 and doesn't help me as an adjuster that is probably contributing to the delays. Almost as if xact is more concerned with showing off with useless features rather then provide a program that works without having to own a super computer. This is just a sample of simple commands I attempt that has lag:
1. Selecting a group of line items and switching to bold OR copying pasting a group of line items - 5+ seconds of delay
2. Typing "Cat" and "Sel" items - I can type the command "DRY 1/2" and once its typed Ill watch the letters type one at a time. D....R....Y....1.../...2
3. Simply switching from one tab to the next ex. Estimate to Sketch
4. Inserting macros - 5+ second delay
I've read many past forums where people have had the same issues, but no one ever had a solution. I'm sure there are countless users out there with the same headaches, but have any of you figured out the cure? Someone told me that I need a gaming computer with a top of the line processor but Im not going to drop another $2000 on a laptop unless I know that'll solve the nightmare we call v28.
