Let me introduce myself.... I have been contracting for 6 years and looking for advice on becoming a Cat adjuster. My name is George, I am 24yrs old, physically able to climb ( I rock climb), mobile (single) , and live in IL. I have been exposed to most every trade involved with residential dwellings with most of my education, certifications, and experience in concrete repair, as well as commercial and industrial coatings.

What steps / general knowledge would you advise to a person entering the Cat adjusting field to accomplish the following?

    >Training is a must, what training agencies and which classes would you recommend as essential classes?

    >What steps can a new adjuster take to make themselves more marketable to adjusting agencies?

    >Are there any long term goals, specialty markets, or new certifications you would recommend that pay better?

    >With knowledge of municipal storm and sanitary sewer components and processes, are there any niche services to provide there?

First advice is to read the many pages here on your questions; and then if you have further questions come back and ask
Life is like a sewer, what you get out of it depends on what you put in it

    George,

One of the first things for you to accomplish is how to do your own research. There is a mountain of information here on CADO and on other sites dealing with your situation. After you have done your research and have formulated some specific questions, come back and ask away.

JMO- get a TX license and start using a software- drop resumes with anybody who will take them.

If you have a 2 or 3 story ladder, a harness, and climbing skills you might be able to get on a storm in a CAT Support type of roll where you can demonstrate yourself to an IA firm or an IA who hires his own CAT Support.

Tool up with knowledge and get that foot in the door I say- then its up to you to sink or swim.
Hail storm addict with a soft spot for basement claims and other fast money!
