Go to chat and ask a question. I know for a fact myself and two or three other adjusters visit this site each day and are happy to answer questions.
Now please do not ask questions like who are all the ahole vendors, the best rip off schools, the way to get rich, how to master grammer etc. For starters I ask all new people to purchase a college text book on property & casualty insurance principals, and a basic book on "how to build a frame dwelling". Lowe's has a good one FRAMING by Wagner cost about $18.00. Now don,t be lazy and you may be one some day... not soon about 10,000 hours later.

California Earthquake Schools- Certification. Now this something you must have if you like to bet on a long shot with good old American $$. Some old people who have been adjusting over 50 years think its a waste of money. I am that person. I had to get certified in 1994 and it took i/2 day. Ihave never used it before 1994 and I will never have to use it again. As I recall it was free and Safeco Insurance Company paid for it. You can get all the info here on CADDO, download and print and you will be ready to go. Oh. a structural and Civic engineer degree are most helpful, also.

We need some of the instructors to learn us something.... Please give us all the letters behind your name and your BIO so we will be able to track your record down, if needed. Please do not come back and say Hall you are full of BS as that is not the way it was taught to me. Because, then I would have to tell you that is not the way it was splained to me.

When the earthquake hits the CEA (California Earthquake Authority) will provide the carriers with a list of adjusters that are eligible to handle their claims.

Other carriers are similar. Geovera is another big earthquake carrier. It might be legal to adjust earthquake in Calif without the cerification but if i remember there is some extra regulatory burden like having a supervisor check your work or some liability I can't remember.

That's why you need the certification - so you can get work.

Also, make sure you do your online training offered by the CEA. WWW.earthquakeauthority.com

I actually need to do mine!

O goodness I may have to move to Arizona. However Oklahoma is now on my list of favorite states. I just talked to an old bud who worked Oklahoma City hail this summer. He stated he met roofers at the insureds house that were from out of town with a rule by the Insurance Commissioner of Oklahoma letter published in May of 2010.This resulted in all the National Roofers leaving town. Next year they will have some plants in town with a license and work under that license.

The letter was along these lines. As a roofer you can call on any homeowner in Oklahoma to get a roofing job and leave an estimate for all to see. But if you must meet with the adjuster before or after the adjuster inspects for the 2nd time you may ask the adjuster any questions . If you point out hail damage on the roof the adjuster may ask you ANY QUESTIONS about how you came to your conclusion. If you insist on meeting the adjuster and do not follow these instructions your employer and your self can be fined by my office for being an unlicensed public adjuster with a max penalty of $10,000.

We also understand the radio adds from the commish was to use local OK city roofers, after a check with the BBB. Good for Oklahoma.. Now we will work on Texas. Each state must work on the license requirements for a GC license. The biggies will buy out a small or a small will have some dormat license to sell.TX has spent well over a billion on comp shingles with wind left from IKE. Probably another billion in mediated settlements with 3 lawyers involved on blackmail case's that will never be tried.

Do the math on IKE claims. Lets say 10,000 claims have suit filed from IKE. 6000 in Harris, 2000 each in Galveston and Jefferson. If it takes 5 days to take ever case to a jury verdict for actual damages, unfair claims practice & deceptive practice with an average legal expense to each side of $75,000. How many plaintiff firms would try a case if it cost them $75,000.... none is correct.... as they are settling today in mediation with an average amount of $10,000, because the lawyers of TX. think its, legal and it is.

Lets see 10,000devide by 52 weeks=192.3 years to try all the cases in three counties, but we have 5 courts involved this brings it down to 96 years, but only 60% are in Houston with 3 courts this gets down to 32 years in Houston, Beaumont and Galveston.

But look at the job security for lawyers who think the world of storm troopers. Some say the lawyers have more disdain than the carriers. I really think property insurance in TX. will have large premium increase, unless we get the commish in Oklahoma to teach us something.

Ray, that sounds like a neat rule for OK. Do you have a link where I can find out any more information?

    Thanks,
