I think about 90% of cat. adjusters claims are wind/hail losses. This is the time to practice at home on estimatics. (writing estimates in a program). When you get on the storm site it,s too late to learn. 2011 seems to be a good year for large damaging hail. Be ready you may get your first shot and when you get your first 30 files, you must close one or two on the first day. From a dead stop to wide open....welcome.

Good advice Ray, I have sketched my roof and interior probably 100 times. Bathrooms in each end of home have been subject of many overflow claim scenarios. I have also volunteered several estimates for friends that have remodel homes, Going through figuring demo and rebuild. Kind of funny since I am primarily now an auto adjuster. Keeps the mind working and skills ready.

I have never been in the HR department of a very large vender; but if I had I could write the final chapter on a book I will never write  and thats what this post covers. Iwas trained by three people who were upper management of a very large property and casualty company. I had hundreds of hours training as a fire and inland adjuster after being  an auto/casualty adjuster for three years.

I have tried to help more than 300 new people  for about 10 years(for free). Less than 5% are still making a living as a cat. adjuster. Many of the people never worked one loss in their life and got paid one cent. I do not know if any purchased one of the the used books that I still have. People want to make money fast; but are too lazy to learn by reading books.

If the venders and carriers do not screen out new people who are not competent to complete a damaged  estimate on building and contents for damage/destruction..... the attempt will be seen , over & over.

Do you know the name of any books that can help me learn about auto bodily injury claims,  the complete process, from receiving a claim, taking a recorded statement, accident investigation, etc.  Like maybe a self-study guide.   Thanks in advance for your help.

A new post for people to to roof inspection claims for $60 to $90. per roof did not mention an adjusters licese was needed. This is good. This also gives proof that my FICUS TREE post in 2004 would be the way roof claims are worked several years later. This will  reduce the number of adjusters on the ground for a very large roof claim event. The people I have talked with that worked the very severe Phoenix Hail storm last October proved roof claims can be worked just as well from any place in the world with fewer people in the claim settlement process. Inside people will have more value than "roof thunpers"; therefore tained eye balls will always be needed to "get it right".
