I have been licensed for 3 years, but just now starting to try to get on a few more rosters and to get more Certifications.  What certifications would you say are the best or most popular to get?  Any help would be appreciated.

I have been licensed for 3 years, but just now starting to try to get on a few more rosters and to get more Certifications.  What certifications would you say are the best or most popular to get?  Any help would be appreciated.

Besides carrier certs that are mandated to work their claims, newly licensed adjusters should ONLY be concerned with XM8 XM8 and more XM8(Of course there are more estimating software platforms out there, but over 80% of ALL carriers utilize XM8) Take as many classes as necessary to be able to create an XM8 estimate with confidence. Whilst XM8 also offers XM8 certifications (IE..Level l/ ll/ lll), I am NOT a fan of those. I am a fan of level l / ll / lll knowledge, (not a $100.00 certificate that states as much )

Other than XM8, it is my sincere opinion (and others will differ) that policy knowledge is essential to an adjuster's success. You MUST know all you can about the HO series of policies and the difference between Schedule A/B/C/D/E etc.... What's covered and what's not. You must understand the DP series of policies.

You do NOT need to memorize the policies but become fluent in the language of insurance and be able to easily reference pertinent information and know where to find said information. There is no shiny certificate and you can learn everything you need to become successful at NO cost!!

Simply go to www.claimspages.com and you can read and download anything you need.

Whilst NOT mandatory, I am a big fan of the PTC series of certifications through KMC on demand brought to you by Crawford and Company. It is hoped to become the industry standard to replace many carrier certifications and I believe this will happen sooner rather than later. You can look into these certs by going to:

                                                                www.kmcondemand.com

Even with that endorsement,if you find yourself deployed, even with the PTC series of certifications under your belt, they will NOT help you WHATSOEVER if you can't take an XM8 estimate from start to finish and multiple times a night.
