Does anyone know which IA firms offer the Nationwide Flood Certification for 2013?  I believe Evans Claims in Texas does during their conference, but I have a schedule conflict on those dates.  I saw where CNC in Mobile, AL has offered it before, but it is not on their calender for this year yet.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Just curious, have you handled flood claims for Nationwide and Harleysville in the past?

I have not worked flood claims for them yet. Wind, yes. I do know that they require Xactimate to write the flood claims, and do not allow Simsol. One of the main IA firms I do work with has recently gotten a flood contract with them, but have not yet set up certification. I just wanted to be ahead of the game.

Take it from a veteran, being certified to work flood claims in Xactimate for Nationwide and Harleysville will not put you ahead of the game, unless handling claims on your dime is the game.

Watching adjusters struggle is not something I am fond of.

    Chuck,

Would you please elaborate on this post?

I am re-focusing this year on flood claims and I'm in the dark regarding who the players are(and what they bring to the table.)

    Thanks,

    Dale Strain

Dale, contact Colonial Claims in Lexington, KY. Their certification class was this past Monday, but they will have another soon.

The point here is that the NFIP does not assign flood claims, but Colonial handled about 45% of the Sandy flood claims.

Handling flood claims is frustrating enough without having to work them in Xactimate.

Dale, I tried to contact you, privately, but I don't have the necessary information.

Chuck, my email address is dale@dalestrain.net.

Thanks for the information, I'll reach out to Colonial.

I'm heading out to the Simsol Conference next week. I have used Simsol and like it for the user friendly approach.

    Kevin,

It seems that the IA firm you have a history with that has picked up the NWF contract should have the skinny on how to get their adjusters ready to go. But with as you stated wanting to be ahead of the game, go straight to the source NW and ask them. It should be noted that Nationwide participates in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Are you NFIP certified?

The Nationwide Flood Certification requires eligible claims adjusters first be certified through the NFIP.

I hope this helps. If you have any additional questions shoot me an email at Robby@avCATrecovery.com

    ..................................................

Dale, can you give me some more information on the upcoming SIMSOL conference.
With regard to focusing on flood work this year, I know that you are an experienced adjuster, but how much experience do you have? Are you already NFIP certified?

I ask because if you lack the requisite 4 years for the Manufactured and Residential lines NFIP certification, there are options:

As Chuck stated with regard to Colonial, they offer an NFIP Mentor Program. I have had some of my members go through this program and have been quite busy since going through that program. They also became NFIP certified sans the four year requirement.

I have had other members become NFIP certified through the same mentor program but through Pilot with less than 2 years of experience.

If you have any questions that I can help you with, shoot me an email at Robby@avCATrecovery.com

    Robby,

The conference is in Fort Walton Beach Florida, this week. It may be too late if someone has not registered.

I have 27 years experience in property and casualty claims, but I have only worked 2 flood claims under the WYO program(back in 1996 for Bertha or Fran, I think.)

I am NFIP certified and am just about ready to complete the ANFI course throough IIA/CPCU. I firmly believe in preparation and commitment.

The next step is taking the theoretical and applying it to the practical.

That's awesome!! So you won't need any mentor program. Nevertheless, Colonial is a strong stable outfit to work for. As stated, a few of my folks worked a large amount of flood claims through Colonial. I am sure they would welcome an industry veteran such as yourself. Best of luck to you!

Lots of inaccurate information in the above.......

Yes, the NFIP does assign claims outside of WYO carriers (NFIP Direct losses) for one.

    Robby And Rod,

Please post some more information to verify your comments. As much as both of you "detest" Chuck, he is "extremely" versed in all flood claims. I learned a long time ago the be prepared when steeping in crap. So with this I will always ask in a professional manner:
    1. When you have information to the contrary, please state the facts. Don't just diasagree. Because of your past and continuance against Chuck your validity is lacking.
    2. Show more professionalism, as we all should do in our industry. Robby you keep coming back and making posts like "some spoiled brat". And sorry Robby but that comes from a non-bias third party.....my other half that I keep abreast of the industry and let her read posts. Those are her words, imagine the rest of the forum reading and their thoughts !
    3. Contact Linda Delamare of FEMA I believe she is in the 6th district. She will expalin and verify that Chuck is correct, that NFIP does "NOT" assign claims even in a direct loss. She will tell you to check with the carrier that "THEY" assign the claims to the adjuster.

While both of you have much experience, I truly believe that Mr. Deaton can run circles around you and me just like Jud G., okclarryd, Alex,  Ray, just to mention a few, and many more !

I would love to have a beer with you one day and find out just what the "hell" makes you so angry. I would believe and trust my life to "Chuck" in dealing with anything having to do with NFIP and Flood claims before I would soak in any information given on the subject forwarded upon your behalf.

As Paul Harvey would say........Good Day !

Pondman, my understanding is that Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) handles National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) direct losses. As far as I know the vendor is Allied American, located in Mobile, AL.

I attended the Allied American flood class earlier this year. CSC people were in attendance.

Another point is that Allied American says that adjusters will not receive claims from them unless the adjuster attended the class taught in Tampa, Florida earlier this year.

    PondMan,

your wife seems to be a wise woman. I too would characterize my recent behavior as that of a Spoiled Brat.

With that, please be assured that regardless of any disagreements between myself and Chuck, I hold Chuck in  high esteem and find his wealth of experience hugely important to our newly licensed brethren
