It appears that anyone out looking to buy a new computer should note that Windows Vista and Xactimate 24 are not compatible at present. Xactimate 25 will be but is not out till June. Therefore anyone buying a new computer should be aware.

Xactware has posted a work around for the Vista problem on their site.  You will need a eService Center account.

    Here is a link,

    https://eservice.xactware.com/apps/..._vista.jsp

The problem with Vista and V24 appears to be due to the MSDE (SQL Server) used with V24 and when you follow the link above you will find information on how to install SQL Express SP2.  If you have a CD with version 24.9.392 or newer the SQL Express is on the CD, MSDE\Express\SQLEXPRESS folder.

Check the site for additional information.

I was able to install and use Xactimate on a laptop with Vista, so the work around worked at least on one laptop.

Well I had to break down and buy a new laptop with Vista. I havent bought Xactimate yet because I see no sense in paying for something that I am not using yet. But, I would like to load the program on my new laptop so I will have it read yto go and so that I can practice, load macros and so forth.

So, is there any one willing to tell me how to do the workaround  so I can load it?

The 30 day trial loaded just fine on my vista laptop,as did integraclaim.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

I have reloaded it several times and it will not work. I have version24.12.451  and I cannot get  it to work. Is there something on the disc that I can install to make it work?

Contact every vendor you can, get on every list, wait for a storm, hope you get called. Keep your day job. Till you prove yourself, your just another name on a list. Oh yes, you can star making a list of all those people that told you all you got to do is get a license and make 100k a year, and start plotting your revenge.

Anthony while Jim makes some valid points and it is true no one is going to beat a path to your door you are ahead of many who desire to be a CAT adjuster but do not follow up with action. If you are retired or have a good source of income the CAT world seems to work out better then if one is looking for a weekly paycheck to keep a roof of the heads of family.

I expect to see GA and North FL get some much needed rain fall this year to start catching up from years of short fall in rain totals. I expect this to come from something we have not seen in years and those are Atlantic coast hurricane strikes.

Many CAT adjusters have had to take day jobs since 2005 and their wifes will not let them quit to go to a CAT.

There are other threads here on CADO with better info on the question you have raised so use the search feature to find some of those threads.

Yes, my answer was somewhat tongue in cheek, but the point is valid. It was 18 months from the time I quit a good staff job to be a Cat Adjuster, till I got called out to my first storm. Work has also been pretty sparse since summer '06.

If you find a good computer person or store you can upgrade from vista to xp professional , my friend did it for me, it can be done. This is by far eaiser than trying to get an inferior operating system customized to run your software.
