I work for a third party steep and high ladder assist company. My job is to make sure my guys out in the field are happy and enjoying work. I see a lot of negativity surrounding work as a claims adjuster. I want to know what you would like to see in the world of claims.

What would make your experience as an adjuster more positive?

What would you want your company's to provide you? Technology, benefits, etc.

What annoys you the most when working with third parties or claims in general?

    Thanks for your time.

I accept you have a role BUT to often I hear ladder assist and similar (contractors doing the field alone) have crossed the line. If you talk to an insured about coverage, deductible or repairs you are then operating as an adjuster, but often insurers are trying to save a dollar by removing the adjuster from the equation.

Times are changing but as an ole f*rt adjuster I don't have to like the changes, and I do not believe they are always in the insured's best interest, but such is life.
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

    Thanks for the feedback stormcrow.

To clarify, your problem with the world of claims adjusting is third parties that offer ladder assists? I can definitely see how homeowners going straight to the third parties could get in the way of other adjusters. I can see that being a nuisance.

Luckily we only do business with carriers. We do not do business with home owners directly. This way we avoid the conflict of interest. Our role as a third party is really to help adjusters that are unable to access certain homes. A lot of times, carriers have policies that do not allow their adjusters to get onto three story homes or overly steep roofs etc (as i'm sure you know since you are an "ole f*rt adjuster" ha). Since we only do inspections, and zero repairs, we have no reason to say one thing over the other. We do not even discuss our findings in detail with the homeowner. Since really our job is to give you the information and you determine what is best.

Do you have any other feedback on how a third party could help you as an adjuster? Or what you would like to see your employers provide you as an adjuster?
