12 Replies and 12334 Views Video Depositions - Who owns the rights  12334  12 Started by  ChuckDeaton My question seems simple, 'Who owns the rights to the content of a video taped deposition' The situation is this, an adjuster, either as a fact witness or an expert witness, is called to give a deposition. As in the past the there is a court reporter present and the court reporter 'records' the words in verbal and written form and produces a written transcript. At the same time there is a videographer present with unexplained video equipment. The adjuster is asked to sit in front of a backgr...

I am looking for opinions on the purchase of a new camera. Since beginning i have always used a digital point and shoot type camera ($130.00 panasonic), however i have never been satisfied with its inability to take good overall shots of rooms and roofs. I am not really up to par on cameras, but i have been researching the purchase of a new one and from what i have observed so far i am leaning towards a digital slr camera. The features i am specifically wanting or as follows. (1)&160;I do not ...

Not to cut short the thrilling discussion of roof chalk on another thread, but I am curious about what equipment some of you have bought over the years that has not turned out to be useful, whether the reason is because there was no occasion to use it or it just plain didn't work.&160; I'll start it off with two items. 1.&160; An electrical tester.&160; This item was inexpensive and worked very well.&160; However, over the course of a decade I think I used it three times.&160; Most of the ...

5 Replies and 7087 Views Cameras with wide angle lenses  7087  5 Started by  mxr618 I do a fair amount of interior work and use a Fuji Finepix that is allegedly water / shock / and dust proof. Problem: I'm tired of my interior shots not telling the story of the damage in overviews. The upshot is this is a great camera for exterior work. Blows for interior work. Does anybody have a recommendation for a point-and-shoot with a built in wide angle lens Or do you use an SLR with a wide angle lens attached That's pretty pricey for me (I'd go used) but these shots suck. Any...

4 Replies and 4538 Views New to Adjusting with a CAR question???  4538  4 Started by  John Velella Hey guys and gals, I am just starting to do catastrophe adjustments for E.A. Renfroe and I am going to trade my car in for something fuel efficient but large enough to carry a ladder. I was told from a friend I am not allowed to use a telescoping ladder like the Xtend so I need something large enough to carry a ladder. So far I was thinking about the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid that gets 32mpg.  I was wonderingIf anyone had any good suggestions, or are there any restrictions on what cars I am a...

0 Replies and 9862 Views Getting A Rope Over A Roof Structure  9862  0 Started by  Catsvstrained I know that necessity is the mother of invention and many experienced adjusters have their own system for getting a rope over a roof structure to either clip into a work positioning harness or simply use as a hand line. Here are a couple of videos that demonstrate a couple of very effective tools and techniques: 1) Weighted Tennis Ball w/ Bungee Lanyard (AKA 'Comet Ball')Attached to 110 lf Arborist Cord (AKA 'Target Line'): Demo of placement over a 46' high ridgecap -   http://www.yo...

10 Replies and 11337 Views Parrot AR Drone  11337  10 Started by  AcceleratedAdjuster So, I saw an article about a drone that follows people while jogging, wondered who made it, and if it could be used as a tool for our trade. Here is what I found: http://ardrone.parrot.com/parrot-ar-drone/usa Indeed it can, as it can be controlled from a smart phone (iPhone or Android), and has multiple cameras. I got in touch with tech support with the following questions: (answers in bold) * Can the Parrot take video and still photos using the Android platform (I did see that Apple doe...

8 Replies and 6622 Views Any suggestions on a Ladder rack for 5th wheel  6622  8 Started by  duckslayer21 I need to carry a 32ft ladder with my 5th wheel and looking for suggestion.  Inside is out and under I think the length is going to be a problem.   I have a 34ft trailer I want to have a ridgid ladder for getting on and off high and steep roofs with a harness.  If there a ladder that is colapsable and ridgid please let me know.   I am thinking the best option is a ladder rack on the roof of my 5th wheel.  It has nothing on the roof to strap it to with just...

0 Replies and 3875 Views Great ladder for a car  3875  0 Started by  LWalters I have been using a Telesteps 1800, it finally wore out after 4 years of constant use. It has allowed me to drive a car that gets 45mpg instead of a 15mpg pickup. Gas savings has literally paid for the cost of a new car. I replaced the Telesteps with an Xtend and Climb 765P. Costs $269 at any Sherwin-Williams plus get a $10 internet coupon. ONE REALLY BIG THING extra that I bought...a cheap seat cover from wal-mart. If you look how I placed it, it now protects the metal from roof grit, which I b...

0 Replies and 3823 Views Portable Lap Desk  3823  0 Started by  SCBlack Last year I found a great little tool that I use all the time in the car, plane, etc.  It is the Caazorri lap desk http://caazorii.com/ The great thing about these is that they come apart and fit right into your suit case.  Take it on the plane to work and forget about trying to use that seat tray or you lap.  I do a lot of work in the car and it is nice to not have a hot laptop on my lap or having to twist one way to work. Check them out.  They are less than $50 and well w...

2 Replies and 3978 Views Hail Damage on Atlas Pinnacle  3978  2 Started by  Randall Crow Several of the  roofs I have inspected both in Texas and North Carolina in the last 60 days in heavy hail damaged areas are showing damage appearing to be heat damage.  They look very similar to the hail damage I used to see on the old organic comp. shingles. I would like to hear any of your observations on this particular shingle.  You can tell Atlas Pinnacles by the very sharp line that they use as a 'shadow'  line.
