3/22/2011 "The Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, long under fire for its handling of claims following Hurricane Ike, today relieved General Manager Jim Oliver of his duties.
Late last month, the Texas Department of Insurance began overseeing administration of TWIA, the windstorm insurer of last resort for Texans in hurricane-prone coastal areas, and questioned the competence of its management.
The TWIA board had said Oliver would remain on the job until TWIA could hire an acting successor.
But late today, the board decided to name Randy Wipf, vice president of underwriting, as acting general manager, TWIA spokewoman Meg Meo said. She said she didn't know the terms of Oliver's departure."
