My deepest sympathy goes out to all the families
who lost loved ones yesterday!I was doing inspections in Chicago when Jim Lakes called and told me What had Happened.I had three more inspections lined up and thought I would finish the day! I met my next Insured and as I walked in I saw on the TV the plane hitting one of the towers. In less than a minute I was phsically sick and told the Insured I would reschedule. In all my years,I have never felt this Ill.I called my wife 8 times during the day to talk about the events of the day.It took hours for my blood pressure come down. I hope and pray that our community supports the relief effort by giving blood and supporting our government in making sure this doesn't happen on our soil again. Our lives will never be the same!! I would like to extend my thoughts on this tragic event. As an X-Army MP, I've worried for many years about how complacent our country has been towards terrorism in our Great nation. After living in Germany for 6 years at the peak of the Bonner Meinhoff terrorist activities, I learned a lot about terrorism.

Our children were ages 4 & 2 and at that time, car bombs were being placed in civilian and military personnel private vehicles. Before I could get into my vehicle, I had to place my children in a safe place inside of our apt building so I could inspect my vehicle for bombs, which included a mirror on a pole to look under the body. My 2 yr old was so trained that when he saw a paper bag at the end of a building while going to the playground, he immediately came and told me. Turned out to be a bag of empty liquor bottles.

I hope and pray that our country doesn't come to this. We will have to make some changes in the way we travel, and we will have to be more educated about these type of people. We also MUST pull together, all religions, all races, to back the leaders of our country and to pray for wisdom for them. We also need to pray that these people be brought to justice, whether that means retaliation or courts, but they must be caught and be made accountable.

My prayers go out to each of you, that God keeps you safe and that He gives you His wisdom of what each need to do to help heal our nation. We all have a part, even if it is just to listen to someone that is scared, or to reassure someone that might be a target because they happen to be of the nationality that caused this.

God Bless each of you. And I thank God for each of you.

Jim, I did not take offense at your post at all. I thought it well written and very expressive of what most of us must be feeling right now. I was referring to a different post.

Cecelia, I did not mean to exclude any faith nor show preference to any particular faith. May all those who believe in whatever higher powers look to their individual faiths for peace, serenity and comfort in this time of greatest national need and test of personal faith.

Despite the many divisions we may all share from time to time, that which unites us is so much greater than that which divides us.

Now is the time for all of us to meditate on the meanings of today's events as we contemplate the meaning of our own lives, appreciate the resilency of the human spirit, and acknowledge the vulnerabililty of the human condition.

Please feel free to use this thread to express and share whatever thoughts and feelings of anger, despair, sadness or shock you may have with all of our fellow life travelers/cat adjusters who are by profession, the ones called upon to assist and comfort when tragedy happens.

We all share your shock and look for answers when there are none. Let us reach out to embrace others in unconditional love and with a renewed commitment to peace, understanding, acceptance and tolerance for others with whom we may share different backgrounds, beliefs, religions, or ideas.

If my earlier comments were insensitive or offended anyone please accept my apologies as that was certainly not the intention of this writer in an earlier post made in not only great haste but enormous personal shock as well.

We as catastrophe adjusters are human as well and sometimes even unexpected tragedy comes to each of us, with the same shock, pain, hurt and sense of disbelief as we see in the eyes and faces of others. Today is one of those times.

I am still in shock and can hardly believe what this day has held. It seems so unreal that this has happened in this great country of ours. The footage looks like special effects in a movie. But it is real.

Prayer is an integral part of many, if not all, western religions. I agree with Jim that we should all pray for world peace, national security and comfort for the injured and the families of the victims.

But I think that comments encouraging a specific religion are inappropriate for this forum and for this situation. There are probably members of many faiths who are involved on this board.

The end times are nearing. If you don't know Jesus, you will be left behind to live through the tribulations. Seek Jesus. Invite him into your hearts and lives. Ask his forgiveness for your sins. Pray for those who are in sorrow and for the unsaved. Hang on! it's going to get worse before it get's any better.

May we as catastrophe professionals extend our prayers and offers to help in any way to all of those injured and killed in what can only be best described as acts of war unseen since Pearl Harbor.

Let us all count our blessings as Americans and pray to our Creator for world peace, national security, and the comfort that only God can provide to those thousands killed and injured today in a multitude of terrorist acts against our government and the American people.

May God bless America and give us each and all understanding, comfort and his wondrous grace in the most trying days we will all face in the days ahead.
