I heard that Wardlaw is out with Farmers. Does anybody know who took their place? Any adjustments to the fee schedules? Is Wardlaw still in business? Do they have any new business? Is this related to the lawsuit by a TX policyholder against Wardlaw and Farmers for referring work to former Wardlaw adjusters?

Katy in talking with them from time to time I gathered they had more than one client. Did you hear this from Farmers? Why would you think they were out of business if their phones are on?

I didn't try calling them as my calls previously have never been returned. My friends that work there don't know anything (or should I say, they don't know anything about what is going on at Wardlaw). I do know that everyone that I know that has worked for Wardlaw is looking for work elsewhere. I didn't work much last year, and I haven't worked since Hurricane Isabel. I was hoping to get on with the new Farmers vendor.

I don't know anything about what's going on with Wardlaw and Farmers. I do know that Eberl's does some Farmers work. They have the capacity to take up a lot of the slack if what you mention comes to pass.

I have heard that farmers have been happy for a long time. Eberl's, Crawford, and NCA gave been trying to buy the business for years.

I'm with Farmers and was talking with a friend who is a Wardlaw adjuster. They are still in business with Farmers but because they are not getting as much work lately, they have taken on other insurance companies.

Has the standby list been shut down because someone else is getting the work?

Many thanks for all those who responded, especially RogueAdjuster [:I][:I][:I]who emailed me privately. RogueAdjuster stated that Farmers cat work will rotate this year between four companies. Pacesetter, NCA, Wardlaw, and Eberls are the four companies. Pacesetter may be doing large loss and commercial claim. RogueAdjuster works on the national catastrophe team for residential so he is not sure if only Pacesetter is doing overflow commercial claims and large losses. It looks like your going to need to signup with all four companies to be you kept b usy.[:O] Which company would be the best for a woman to work for?

Katy, Although I am not aware of any gender bias, one way or the other, with respect to any vendor contracted with Farmers; perhaps there are other considerations to ponder that may affect the level of your thirst to adjust Farmers claims.

It would appear that Farmers set their own fee schedule, which likely any contracting vendors would be subject to adopting.

Overall, the Farmers fee schedule is quite poor, when measured against 103 other fee schedules.

It starts out about average at the $500 and $1K gross loss (GL) levels, but quickly declines, and at $3K GL it is 4th from the bottom (i.e 100th of 104) of the schedules surveyed. The Farmers schedule hovers near the bottom including at the $10K GL point, then starts a slow and steady improvement to the $45K GL point. At the measured points in the $50K - $80K GL levels, the fee schedule is generally in the mid pack of the "mid third" of the 104 fees in those ranges. At the $90K and $100K GL point, the fee sits slightly below the median fee in those ranges. At the large loss range of $250K and greater, the Farmers fee is strong, and sits above the median fee in those ranges.

Therefore, based on the math, the Farmers fee is an average fee at $1K GL and under, a very poor fee from $1001 to $10K GL, a poor fee from $10K to $45K GL, a below average fee from $50K - $80K GL, and an above average fee from $90K GL.

So, consider the severity of reported damage that may beset the Farmers policyholders for any given deployment, then consider the type / size of claims you are comfortable with handling, then consider the type / size of claims that the vendor will likely give you; and factor that into the above.

In addition, relative to the farmers fee schedule;
Their T&E rate, where applicable, is about average, within the data available
Their mileage allowances, if any, are not disclosed
The photo allowances, are slightly above average, within the data available
Their telephone allowances, if any, are not disclosed
They do have an above average 2 storey & steep allowance, within the data available
