I heard today that all 4 independent cat adjusters working the Carolinas ice storm for Nationwide Insurance, 'walked off' their assignment here in Greensboro, NC over the weekend, saying they "weren't making enough money to pay expenses." (My sources, whom I deem reliable, are principals of the two largest IA firms here in town).

Does anyone know who the vendor is for Nationwide catastrophe claims or which vendor was providing Nationwide with cat adjusters for this ice storm?

Does anyone have any knowledge of the Nationwide fee schedule for catastrophe claims?

Nope, but I got another heard it through the grapevine. I heard that there were some real difficulties filling the needs in California. Anybody have any specific insights or was it just a case of people not wanting to be gone on Christmas?

Just my 2 cents worth, but it has been such a slow couple of years for most that they were most likely forced to find other means of employment. I for one, have had a "boatload" of promises to be "called" or deployed, only to be dissappointed...........
So, if some of the "head hogs at the trough" are wondering why more adjusters aren't beating their door down, its because we've all "been there ,done that, 1 too many times".....
As usual, I'm on several "standby's" but not holding my breath.
Hope I'm surprised....
Like the standby list this summer, I live 30 miles from a hail "cat". Could've been there Immediately. Did I get called???
Nope. Go figure huh?
Or......after being told by a Major adjusting firm that I didn't have the necessary experience to work for them... I had a hail claim, 2nd claim in 17 years...Anyway, here is Joe adjuster, representing "Awlford" & Company.....
He promptly hops out of his car, unfolds his ladder, looks at the roof, comes down the ladder, asks me if anything else, I tell him to look at the windows?? duh? he does, then asks me anything else? I say look at the A/C unit. duh? he does, ....
Before he leaves I casually ask him, so, how many claims do you work in a day. His reply. "Oh it depends, but I've done over 40 in a day.
????? O.k. I can say I have found and met Superman!!!!
He never once mentioned deductible, depreciation or anything else for that matter.
And this is all what "I" didn't have enough experience?

Merry Christmas to all.
Steve
