I think unionizing as AI's wouldn't work, but the biggest fear of the large vendors is the unionization of its field adjusters. The reason I think it wouldn't work is because there would be too many that wouldn't join and the money is so lucrative that there would be more than enough people to fill the void. |

mshort68 hit it right on the head. IAs would be cutting their own throats, staffers too for that matter. If either side tried it, they lose. The competition is too great. |

I believe joining would be cutting your own throat. Remember the key, independent, is your main focus. Being tied to a union may work if your in MI working for a car mfg., but working claims in the majority of non union states which would be the South wouldn't work. Just my opionion. |

What do you mean by specialty claims?
I dont think you'll see a major carrier signing any long term contracts. I think they like to roll with the punches. Remember Houston? They made alot of promises to IAs so theyd come, then didnt keep many of them as long as they said they would. They like to be able to trim the fat when they want to and keeps budgets low. Thats why they use them in the first place instead of using an entire cat work force of staffers. Call ya when they need you, send you home when you're done. |

Boys, the concept of unionizing and/or organizing into a professional trade associaiton has been chewed on like a dog pound bone. And... it has come to naught.
There are many valid reasons for a union for carrier staff employees and a trade association for the self-employed/temporary cat employees. But this drummers arm is tired from beating the drum and tamborine. |

Me, afraid to reply? Where you been Craig, on the moon?
There's no doubt that everyone would like to have their name on the "A" list. It means more work and good billing. The only thing is that I see most of what you have described already goes on and with no union. Vendors know who the good ones are and which might not be so great. So do carriers. Its the reason some people always seem to be working somewhere and others maybe not so much. I see that with IAs as well as teams of staffers. Its a big game of favors and favorites and the only control you or I have over it is based on how well we do our own jobs. The rest is smoke and mirrors. |

I'm with you Catdaddy, the good IA's that I know had no problem making a mint last year which was the worst year on record. Most of the ones I know had a normal 200 + year. If your good and everybody knows it, you will be rewarded year after year. No exceptions!!!!!!! |

Thanks anyway Craig, but I've made my connections and just got my Suburban loaded and ready to go. I've got my inverter, Little Giant ladder, bike rack converted to ladder rack, and a2z mobile solutions desk. The only thing I need now is a storm and I'm ready. If I get in a bind I'll let you now. thanks |

Shorty, maybe Craig can ride with you. I got the call. I'm headed to Georgia early in the morning for ice claims. |

I did 6 months there for the Duwoody Tornado. I am sure they are preparing my ticker-tape parade as we speak. I agree though, VERY particular when it comes to their insurance claims.
Enjoy California. I was second on the rotation list for that one and missed it. I was already having daydreams of Pebble Beach. I guess I'll have to jump the fence at Augusta now. Look for me in the arrest section of the Georgia Times. |

My anger needs managing right now. This morning I did, what I thougt, was an informative post, but whole posting, the topic had been removed. All that thought and typing for nothing. If the folks that are posting these juvenile, gotcha remarks don't quit it, I for one will quit reading and posting here.
Roy Cupps has spent time and money to give us all an opportunity to read, learn, and post intelligent commentary on CADO. Now, ladies and gentlemen, if we can't do this, this old veteran will delete CADO on my favorites bar. Now I know why some of my GA friends don't read or post here anymore. Grow up guys. |

Craig, thanks for your response. Life is full of choices, just like in the adjusting profession. I have made them in the adjusting business for 42 years. I have never cared for inuendos, moronic remarks, nor complacency. If I make a choice to delete CADO from my favorites bar, that is my choice. I do not need anyone to tell me that is the wrong approach. I have always been a decisive person and will continue to be so. It is obvious we have some posters who like to keep the waves going. I like calm waters. Education is central to this business and when I see people like Clayton Carr and Jim Flynt being criticized for their efforts, then I have no need to read the juvenile remarks, as it is a waste of human time. Roy Cupps is a friend of mine and has created a service like no other available. It is disrespectful to him for insidious remarks to be made on this site. So, if I make a choice to evade those remarks, once again, it is my choice. Choice is on freedem that has not been taken away from us yet. |

I don't think a little ribbing is the same thing as personal attacks, and I know the majority feel this is not the place for personal barbs. I feel some of the comments here are not in the spirit of what Roy wanted to establish and has stated as much. When ADMIN has to step in and break up a squabble, it says something about the mentality or attitude of those involved. It is imperitive that we conduct ourselves in a proffessional manner, with good humor and respect. Maybe a group hug is what we need, even a hand shake would help. If one person asks a question, a gets a personal attack by another or vice versa, we don't have a solution, resolution or dialog, we have comments going to and fro, and they are no benifit to the group. Freedom of speech does not mean any one has the right to degrade or ridicule others, they have rights too. Your rights end where other rights begin. A right to be heard doesn't mean the right to slander. I repeat the feelings of Tom, and concur, we don't need strife. We need to get back on track, and let the learning, exchanging ideas and friendly dialog begin. You folks are pros and I want to be. My anger is managed now I feel better. Get back in your corners and if you come out swinging we got a peach tree switch and Ghost Buster nettle your legs, since he ran out of torch fuel.
