Wondering what the going rate is for asbestos tile roof when the roof damaged enough to be replaced? I have been told $550 sq on and off.

I also have a commercial building with corrugated asbestos panels. This roof will also need to be replaced.

The commercial roof , (corrugated) is JM Transite. It contains over 40% asbestos. You will need an abatement contractor for commercial work in NO.

There is NO product that will meet the specs for Transite, (Fireproof, 100 yr roof) Have sucsessfully substituted, Decra or Duralok, Stone coated steel panels for the transite in FL. Cost will be a major factor, look at 2000+ per square.

Any roof over a four plex is considered commercial and the abatement rule for a hazardous waste contractor applies.

The above can also be used to replace an asbestos shingle roof, costs will be about the same as artificial slate, 500-700 Sq. but no abatement required.

katadj, is right on target.  OSHA asbestos handling procedures for roofers will still apply on the house. Also special disposal and handling will be required.
