Gale,
I ran into one of your tradeshow folks at this weeks ACE claims conference in New Orleans.  She told me you were recovering from emergency hip surgery.  Speedy recovery, mate.

Thanks John. I am doing quite well and hope to be completely released in a couple weeks so I can hit the road again. In 1991 both hips were replaced and my left one had failed. Thanks to some new technology and Dr. David DeBoer of Southern Joint Replacement in Nashville, TN (615) 342-0038 I am much better. It was hard to find a doctor to do revision work but Dr. DeBoer is several cuts above and also teaches at Vanderbilt. Especially if one has complex issues and are within a normal driving range I would contact Dr. DeBoer’s office. For physical therapy you can do that locally so if all goes well you only return to Nashville for the six week check-up and release.

Hi Gale!
As someone with bilateral hip replacements, I cringe at the thought of a revision, and am sorry you had to have yours done again.  Happy that you have a great doctor tho!!
Wish you all the best, hope you have a painless and speedy recovery, and that you're able to get back to "normal" ASAP!!!!
Best Wishes to you!
Meg

Having gone through heck for 6 months, I know how you feel. Looks like you found a great Dr. Good Luck and get better soon. I am using Janice's computer, as we are on the road to Florida to pick up our Grandaughter. This is Tom, Janice's pain in the butt. Take care Gale. Glad you did not have that other surgery. I think Roy had one too many,LOL

Gale,

Hope you're catching up on all your reading and all those things we don't have time for when we're
working.

Take advantage of the down time now, because you will be up, and literally running, in no time.

Know that we are all thinking of you and hope your recovery and outcome is speedy and successful.

Helen

Thanks to each one that expressed your concerns. Today I went back to Nashville for my six week follow-up of my hip revision. The doctor and staff were pleased with what they saw and said I could now drive and go back to work. Just the ability to drive saved me a 120 mile walk home. :) By the next 6 week check up there should be a lot of bone in growth bonding the new socket. Getting the new ball and socket on the left side made the right set not look so hot but the doctor said it should have a few years of service left.

Now I will be able to get on the road promoting PowerClaim Net Services that we are introducing in July. While I will post more under the PowerClaim tread in a few weeks, Net Services is the PowerClaim version of Xactnet and MSB ComCentral and our claims assignment/management system will be supplied on a per claim fee. PowerClaim XML our estimating software will continue to work as a stand alone version but will upload files to our Net Services server if a carrier or vendor wishes storage and the ability to run claims management reports. The $5 per file fee will be billed to the carrier or vendor, not the adjuster. The carrier/vendor will be able to select and run any and all of the management reports they wish and have the claims stored in a live format for up to 2 years without additional charge.

Net Services will permit carriers to better manage their loss ratios and vendors to offer their carrier clients detailed reports as an incentive to do business with them versus another vendor.

Gale,
Here's hoping for a rapid recovery. I feel for you, my wife just had a total knee replacement and as soon as she can walk okay with this one she'll have the other one done. Good healing to you.

Alan, thanks and the same to your wife. From what I learned in the pre surgery class the knees while may take less time in the operating room they are much more painful after the fact than a total hip. I know I would have one at a time as your wife. My recovery this time was much easier because I could protect the new left hip by using the right side to do most all of the work. Fifteen years ago when I had bilateral total hips the same day it was a bear. It is too hard on everyone to be put down that long in my personal view but I know today they do a lot of bilateral knees on the same day. The fact that you only have one recovery period is the big plus.

Sorry, some have been asking how I am getting along following my hip revision. On 14 August 2006 I went back for my 3 month check up and the doctor lifted all restrictions. Now the doctor is monitoring the knee on the same side. Knees are more painful than hips I am told so I am not looking forward to that replacement.

Since then I have been on the road doing a lot of marketing after having been shut down from traveling due to the dislocated hip issue. It is good to be out and about with a degree of comfort. I expect to make the full slate of 2007 tradeshows after having missed many in 2005 and 2006 due to the hip.

Thanks for all of your concerns and prayers.
