Listen up, Ya"ll, Lets see how many of you know the answer to this question. Not that I am looking for the correct answer, as for I know. What would this be covered under homeowners or flood? It was a claim in Erath LA.

Not flood. The HO would cover damage ONLY IF the cows were NOT owned by the insured. Actually had a real-life claim with a cow on the roof of a home that flooded to the eaves. Happened in Seguin, TX and the cow punched holes in the roof. Rain came through those holes and damaged contents that had been put in the attic above the flood waters. Someone got the cow down before I got there but there was video on NBC and MSNBC. Never found out who owned the cow or there would have been subro or at least a BBQ out of the deal.

I think it's covered by "cow chips".

Would the physical damages to the house be covered even if the insured owned the cows? No doubt any damages wouldn't be covered to the cows themselves, but what exclusion would be applied to decline a claim to the dwelling caused by the cows if they were the insured? Would these be considered domestic animals? How does the "business pursuits" portions of the exclusion read (for the dwelling damages, not other structures or 3rd party)?

I quote from the HO-9R (04-93) Section I - Perils Insured Against - Coverage A - Dwelling and Coverage B - Other Structures We insure against risks of direct physical loss to property described in Coverages A and B; however, we do not insure loss: 2. caused by: h. animals owned or kept by an insured.
