I have worked seven days a week for many months with this great guy with my cubicle joining his and I can truly attest to his unapproachable character, integrity, honesty and outpouring of goodwill and kindness to everyone.  He was the best friend I have ever known.  He will be truly missed by me and I am sure everyone who has ever known him. I am sure there is a wonderful place for him in heaven.
My condolences and prayers go out to his dear family and friends

GOODBYE, MY GOOD FRIEND!!

Kieth has been everything from my supervisor in the 2004 supplement department to a very close friend.  We have shared many wonderful times together including Thanksgiving dinner this past year with he and Sandy.  The thoughts and prayers of my wife and I go out to the family as well as our thanks for being a small part in the life of a great man.

Kieth, you will be truly and deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know you. You had a way of keeping things so lighthearted, that was such a gift.  You shared that gift with everyone you came in contact with.
Kieth was one of those people that made work not seem like a chore.  OK Mayes, you are already missed. God Bless You.

Kieth was one of the BEST--he always made me laugh--an incredible person to work with, especially in close quarters--as it was for the 2004 hurricanes.  I'll always remember, with a 'grin', OK Mayes and his wry sense of humor--especially about those around him ^_^  I'm so glad I got in contact with him a week or so ago because even though I hadn't worked with him in a couple of months, I always thought fondly of my days with the great bunch in Tucker--and Kieth.  He will be missed, like any true, genuine friend--he was a 'spectacular' guy.  Thanks for letting me share a small part of your life.  Good-bye, Kieth.   Love much ~Maryellen

Kieth was a very kind, sweet man.  He said hello every single time I saw him in the office, no matter how many times I walked passed his desk, he would go out of his way to speak.....I will miss him very much.  Sandie, my prayers are with you and your family.

I heard the sad news with regard to Kieth and want to express my sorrow at the loss of a great person.  When he was manager for GAB in St. Thomas, Kieth took a continual parade of young adjusters under his wing and kept them out of trouble and contributed to their development. I was fortunate enough to have worked for Kieth and he was  up- front and solid in everything he did.  I lost contact with Kieth after leaving St. Thomas and regret that I did not look him up to say thanks for all his help.

My wife and I express our sorrow at the loss of Kieth and extend our prayers to his family.

I am Kieth's daughter-in-law, Paige Mayes.  My sister-in-law forwarded this message board to me last night.  It was conforting to read everything his friends and co-workers said about Kieth.  He loved his work and I know it was because he was able to work alongside friends like you.  Thank you for your kind words.  Your thoughts and prayers have not gone unnoticed!  We love you Pop!!

And from Kieth's "little" brother:
Thank you all for your love for Kieth and your prayer for his family!  You are, of course, all commenting upon Kieth's manner that he touched each of you. Although Kieth and I have not maintained real close contact over the years, I always knew that I had a "back" if I managed to get in a bind!  He would be here in a heartbeat! I miss knowing that he "is there" & ready to help. Dependable!  You speak of his "upbeat" attitude.  I have always wished that I could view life in such a positive manner has he did. I could go on & on.  Again,  thank you for this message board & thank you for your kind words & love.

I too worked for Kieth in St. Thomas. Best manager I ever had. I have always remembered him as one of my
most unforgetable characters. He helped to make those two years among the best in my life. My love and prayers to
Sandy and the family.

Keith Mayes was the type of individual that I most admire. That is one reason I started the Knowledge and Attitude forum. He fit in that forum very well. Good personality, a willingness to help, friendly smile, good disposition, and a very good attitude. I wish there were comforting words that could help the family, but there is not. Death is final, but memory of him will never be final. He is one the nice guys and will never be forgotten.
