If anyone is having trouble changing or resetting the password and wish to use your old account just email your username to roy@catadjuster.org and I will reset it for you.

All accounts were transfered from the old forum to this forum so if you had a CADO account before 4/19/04 then it was transfered.

However, due to security the passwords were encrypted in the old forum and could not be transfered. They are also encrypted in the new forum so I can only reset password with a new one. You can change your password after you login.

Please note some areas of the site are connected to the username. They include the Roster, On The Road, Resumes and Classified Ads.

So for example if you added your name to the Roster before 4/19/04 you will only be able to edit the information using the username you used when you added it.

We need a simpler format to locate how to change your password. I still can not find it.
Thanks

I have received a few request in the last few days about how to change your password.  Most of the time this is because the password has been reset and a system generated password is sent to the user.  Based on this I wanted to revive this thread from May of last year.

Here are the steps to changing your password not resetting it.

1) Login
2) Follow this link to your site profile.
http://www.catadjuster.org/forum/editprofile.asp
3) Look on the profile page for the word Login (see image in prior post)
4) Click the change password link
5) Change password.

I don't understand why I'm not on the Roster.  Thought I used to be and that was less than a year ago.  I'm logged in and selected the cookies box, but can't find my name.  Please help.

Hope this helps.

I'm sorry you are having trouble with the Roster. I checked and could not locate a Roster Listing that was added using your current username.  I also checked the Resume database and did not locate a resume for you. So, this means that you can add one.

Thanks

You have to search VERY hard to find out how to change your password.  I actually only found out how after putting "change password" in the search and finding this thread.  Why don't you just allow one to change the password from the profile screen.  Instead you have a tiny barely noticable link beside "login" that allows you to change it.  Why not just put a blank on that screen instead of having to find that tiny link?

I'm glad you used the search and I recommend it to anyone looking for information.  We have over 60,000 posts (counting the archive, pages and bulletins) on this site which have been collected since 1995.

While I do write a lot of the software (scripts) related to this site, I did not write the forum software, it is third party software and would need to be changed by the vendor who has not provided any updates in over a year.   I'm limited by their updates and changes.  As many of you may know I'm working on a major update that includes what I feel are improvements in the user interactions.  However, this forum is not part of that upgrade since it is not currently compatible with the new scripts\software.   The upgrade, currently in place as the beta site, provides a very simple way to change your password.  Just like you are requesting. Another thing about passwords in the beta site is that if you forget your password you can request it and it will be sent to you just like you entered it, no additional steps needed and you are not required to change it. Please see the attached image for the profile screen used in the upgrade.

However, if other users wish to change their password in the current setup instead of going to your profile and looking for the link just click here. I guess I could put this link in the menu.
