Has anyone had experience with perfoming Premium Audits or Commercial Loss Assessment? Since the adjusting biz is slow this is something I'm getting into. The Premium Auditing involves WC, Commercial General Liability, Garage Plans.
The Commercial Loss Assessment is inspecting risks such as apartments, restaurants, bowling alleys, with the insured, looking for potential hazards,  preparing diagrams for fire hazards etc. and preparing reports for the underwriters.

My brother did commercial loss assessment for Poe Financial Group prior to their becoming insolvent. He loved it. Very similar to adjusting work, .....but fewer reports, no estimates, and you don't have to deal with insureds, contractors, PA's and attorneys.

Wow Tiger you make it sound like the dream job.  LOL now everybody and their neighbors across the street will be signing up just like CAT.  I am assuming your brother was staff for POE?  What is a salary range for a position like that.  Do any of the carriers use independent contractors for something like this?

Since this post first came out, I went and got my license. Does anyone have a link to some expensive training I can sign up for?

I will read everything I can and try to get the school open for the license, training and software before the first of October 2006. How does $200.00 a day for 3 days sound for tuition.

trader, do you currently have any available seats in your class?  Do you have any arrangements for overnight accommodations at the local hotels?  If the current class is full please put me on the next available schedule, I will pay double if I have to!!!

Sorry Wes the meeting room will only hold 120 persons and we were sold out in the first hour. Two other schools are coming out of the ground as we speak and they may be able to work you in; however you have driven the price up with your offer. I have a call into my attorney to  explore the fair prevailing prices for  a shortage of training schools with expertise in this profession.

Tiger, thanks for your response. You're right, the loss assessment is similar to adjusting. If you get a chance have your brother contact me I would like to bend his ear about it.

Wes:

Yes it was a staff job. Pay was probably mid $60's. And they probably required considerable commercial experience. I don't know of any IA's doing that work. It always involved big commercial risks, mostly condos. But you're right - it was HIS dream job....until the storms hit every year and they turned him into an salaried examiner working 12-14 hours a day.

Do I hear a bid of $150.00 per day. Our office will hold about 20, but 10 will have to sit on the pool table.

Does that price include the "TD"? We haven't needed it lately, but never hurts to have on hand.
