Hello all,

I'm fairly new to this forum but thought I'd post a quick question. I work for a firm that has developed and markets a web based claims handling software called "Virtual Claims Adjuster". Our users are extremely happy about the easy to use interface, low cost, and the efficiency that the system brings to their offices.

Half of our users are Xactmate users  and the other half are mixed amoung the other providors. We would like to allow them to easily set up Xactmate files without having to re-key all the claims information. Does anyone know of a file format that is accepted by Xactware that we can export to? This would allow users to transfer information from our system to theirs with the click of a button.

If not, can anyone point me in the right direction. We'd prefer to push to Xactware but if there is no way we will need to research other estimating products i suppose.

Thanks,

Their file types are XCX File types. They also support the following:

Xactimate Third Party Compatibility

Xactimate and XactRemodel can share information with a broad range of leading software packages. This includes products that provide project management, job costing, and data management.

These third-party solutions are compatible with Xactimate 24 and XactRemodel, except where noted.

  • Microsoft® Project - Export Xactimate estimate information to Microsoft Project. Now you can track Xactimate schedules and tasks, and report project information easily and efficiently.
  • Microsoft® Word and Excel- Save Xactimate reports in the most widely-used file formats.
  • Microsoft® Streets and Trips- Generate directions and maps to the estimate property address.
  • Intuit® Master Builder (tm) - Export Xactimate estimate information to Master Builder. This simplifies job costing by eliminating the need to re-key duplicate job information.
  • QuickBooks® - Export information to QuickBooks®. This export feature makes job costing a snap when using either QuickBooks Pro, Premium, or Contractor Editions. This saves contractors time and money by eliminating the need to re-key duplicate job information into QuickBooks®.
  • AutoCAD® - Export Sketch drawings to AutoCAD® for digital manipulation.
  • Adobe® Acrobat - Save Xactimate reports as PDF files.
  • DeLorme® Street Atlas USA - Generate directions and maps to the estimate property address.
  • GoldMine® - Manage client relationships by exporting or importing customer information into the Xactimate Contacts SmartList.
  • ACT!® (except 2005 version)- Manage client relationships by exporting or importing customer information into the Xactimate Contacts SmartList.

These are all formats that they export to ... I'm trying to find out if they can import claim data from any formats.

I'd like our users to be able to click a buttton in our software and automatically have a file that can be imported into their estimating software.

In all honesty we're not getting very far with Xactware, There is talk of looking at other estimating packages that would like the referral in exchange for bing a little more open minded about saving our clients some time.

Thanks for the input though ... if anyone knows if Xactmate can in fact import any specific file types shoot me a message. I'm sure the boys here at the office would be shocked.

Lee, three of the vendors output claim files in the XML and I have dealt with the possible new mind set ISO has for Xactimate at the bottom of this post.

We at HRI (Hawkins Research, Inc.) started promoting the Open Standard concept back in 2000 and pulled our copy write off of our printed reports so our report formats could be used by any other claims handling solution provider. Anyone that wants to see the XML structure we use can do so without our knowledge by going to www.powerclaim.com and downloading PowerClaim XML. To see our latest structure that is required to work seamless with our new claims reporting system called PowerClaim Net Services one should download Release 16c Beta 3 instead of 16b because when we added the customer pricing overlay feature to 16c we had to define more data fields. To get to Release 16c Beta 3 just click the word DOWNLOAD near the top of our home page and the most right margin.

If you are an adjuster using PowerClaim XML Release 16b or older and are interchanging live claims data with other PowerClaim XML users DO NOT upgrade to any 16c release until everyone in your company decides to upgrade the same day. Just like you can pull Xactimate 2002 into 24 but not the other way around you can pull 16b files into a version of 16c but you can’t pull a 16c version of a claim into 16b.

After you download and then open PowerClaim XML you will see a green box appear that contains your Site Code that you need to email as directed in the text box above the green box activate for a free trial. Since PowerClaim XML does not require for you to be a paying user to view, print or email and claim that was created when you were an active user you can just click on the Close button and then you will see the claims list that list one sample claim that ships with PowerClaim. Go to the bottom left corner of your screen and you will see a Save as File button. Click it and up will come another screen. Select the Save as Type to read XML instead of MDB and put any name on it that you prefer. Just save it as any name you wish to your desktop.

Now open Notepad and import the XML file you just saved to your Desktop. Now you will see our total XML structure. Most just export the notice of loss info out of their claims management system but our Development department will work with you so you will know how to do grab what you need. You can import the complete claim including photos to create any report you desire. You could also pull that claim back into PowerClaim XML to edit the file as well.

I do not have experience working with the Simsol and Xactimate structures but it is possible as we at HRI will do, their development staff can be of assistance to you. If you will build your CMS so it can pull in live claims data from all three adjusting software packages outputting in the XML format you should have a hit on your hands. This could help the adjusting vendor from being so tempted to “demand” only one brand.

When Xactimate was a company instead being part of ISO (Insurance Services Office) the former owner (now deceased) was not so open to working with others. From my understanding ISO is more like the structure of PLRB (Property Loss Research Bureau) which is owned/controlled by about 30 carriers I have been told. If ISO is actually controlled by its carrier members (who pay some fraction of their premium dollars to use the resources created by ISO) then they will throw the barn doors open wide as far as working with other claims handling solutions.

In fact besides of buying all of the claims data that Xactimate had complied over the years ISO may have purchased the Xactware so they can finally wrestle away the control which Xactimate has been exerting over the carriers for the past 20 years that only serves to increase the claims handling cost of the carriers. The carriers may have been willing to pay a pretty penny to finally break the juggernaut hold that Xactimate has had on them for years.
