Brother Blue,

You're right on the increased cost.  We (the adjusters being the "we") are all dealing with higher costs of housing, fuel, food, etc.  The contractors also are dealing with this and the increases should be addressed at some point in the claims process.

Since there's gonna be a supplement for additional or hidden damages in any large loss, that should be a wonderful opportunity to bring it up.  I don't think it should be listed on the original estimate, however.

Ya think there's a reason why they're called "estimates"?

Glad you mentioned it.

One of my insured told me he has apartments in N.O. area for rent.  $550-650 per unfurnished.  He also said he could set up a package deal w/utilities and furnished.  Send me an email and I'll let you know his number, IF YOU ARE AN ADJUSTER ONLY.

It looks like my wife will be coming home soon.  (Yeah!)  The adjusters she is working for have been directed to go to FL for Wilma.  We will be selling a brand new 2005 30Ft Trail Lite travel trailer that is already set up in a secure RV park in Laplace, LA located about 20 miles west of New Orleans.

She is also looking for 1 or 2 adjusters to work for from our home.  She loads files and prepares estimates using Integriclaim.  I am an engineer with over 25 years of design and construction experience.  I've also done over $50 million of damage assessments and reconstruction estimates for the Air Force.  Call Debbie for more information at 580-279-4053.  You can reach me, Frank Price, days 580-436-8719 or nights 580-272-0535.

You folks be careful working in and around N.O.

To All:

I live in the New Orleans area and would be happy to help anyone locate safe, reasonable housing. I know the areas like the back of my hand and have the inside track on availability. There are many safe, reasonable, clean hotels available in certain areas, if you know where to look.

*A word of advice- don't go without masks! You don't want to catch "Chalmette Cough" as it's come to be known. It's still a war zone, but better than it was.
