I retained a licensed public adjuster for hurricane Ivan.  He violated several statutes and certainly was not following our agreed upon objectives.  He agreed to resign in February and was paid.  However, he refuses to notify my carrier of his resignation and now demands commission on checks I have received from my Carrier for claims I alone filed.  I have agreed to put questioned sums in to escrow, but he also insists that I sign a hold harmless agreement. I don't know what he has or has not done and can not agree to such an agreement now being added to his "terms",.  He has stonewalled my recovery and I still have more claims to file.  He's left me in a horrible position.  The state is investigating a formal complaint I have filed, but have no authority to make him co sign the checks I am holding. What do you do?  I need to finalize claims and cash checks I have in hand. Thanks,Betsy

She needs to contact an attorney. I would never advise an insured in this situation.
