Thank you to all of you at Renfroe, the State Farm Insurance Catastrophe Teams in Lake Charles, LA to Mary Short and her fiance, and to those of you who know my Aunt Tammy and Uncle Bob Orsburn and to everyone who knew my mom, Karol, and my dad, Larry, for your outpouring of caring words, concern, support, friendship, thoughts and prayers, cards, flowers, gifts of money and food during my family's most difficult time we have ever faced. There really aren't enough words to tell you all how grateful we are. I am Leslie, Larry's daughter. I was fortunate to meet some of you in the hospital when my brother, sister-in-law, and I came down there to bring my dad home after the accident and to meet many more of you again this past weekend. It was so nice to put the names of the people my mom told me about with the faces. After seeing firsthand the devestation the hurricanes left behind, I know you all are truly special people. I have so much respect for the work that you all do and I know it is hard to be away from your family, friends, and homes... thank you... I wish everyone in the United States and the rest of the world could know what you all unselfishly give of yourselves every day. My dad is not very good with a computer and emails so I am writing on his behalf. He wants me to tell you all how much he misses you all and his job there, and how thankful he is for each and every one of you. It is helping him get thru this most difficult time of losing his wife, best friend, and "partner in crime" of 43 years by knowing how much you all care and that the work they were doing down there and the people they met in the office on Ryan Street, in the destroyed homes they visited, and even in the laundrymat, hotels, and restaurants where they ate were worth every minute they spent there. Mom and dad had a hard time adjusting to their new lifestyle at first, but with your continued support of their hard work and seeing the relief on the claimants' faces when they showed up at what was left of their homes, they were making it... and I know all of this because my mom and I talked at least 2 to 3 times a day and she told me everything! Dad is home in Ohio for now and we are taking it day by day. He can't stop talking about you all and how much he appreciates what you have done for him both before mom died and after. While it is hard for those of us who survive a loved one, and I know so many of you have been thru this before as it is part of life, it was her time to go and God has welcomed another angel with open arms and she will be watching over each and every person she knew and loved just like she did down here on earth. We finally got dad a new cell phone so feel free to call if you would like (330-606-4622), I know he would love to hear from you. Take care of yourselves, your families, and each other and have a wonderful Holiday season. Sincerely, Leslie Petit
