Is anyone else receiving emails from what appear to be an address from an adjusting company with virus's attached to them as .zip files. I have received about 20 today. I believe one of the adjusting companies that may have my email in their database has a virus in their system.

Yes. I have received them and deleted them and 10 minutes later, I have 20 more. I didn't think anything of it but now that you mention you have gotten them as well it sounds like someone is using the CADO roster to send bad emails.
DO NOT OPEN THESE EMAILS!!!!!!!!!

I don't think anyone is doing it on purpose. I think it is one of those self replicating virus's that sends emails to all address book entries.
I am going to run a virus scan on my own system right now just to be on the safe side.

I'll get him for you in about a week, when he gets back from his trip home. I've got this portable jump-starter thing with a built-in air compressor, I plan on using it to wake him up one day. The thing sounds like a chainsaw!

Info on the virus. It can be anyone who has the e-mail addresses...

McAffee has a tool to help it seems...try the link. You will still get e-mails but that does not mean YOU are infected. Just do not open them and makes sure you delete them from your system completely.

There was a news note on the E Mails yesterday on Fox. They said the FBI wanted anyone that received them to go to a certain website. I can't remember the site now but it was something like c3.gov it is a site dedicated for reporting internet scams, illegal e mails etc. I'll see if I can find it and let you know. We are getting lots of them but not opening.
Found the site it is www.ic3.gov

Some of mine have been from FBI.GOV. Thanks for the site. I am receiving about 50 to 100 of these a day.

I have been getting them from fbi.gov and cia.gov "Your IP has been logged on at least 30 illegal sites recently. Open the attachment and answer the questions."
Since the only sites I have visited in the last six months are CADO, various IA vendors, various training center sites and links from the above, I figured it must be a spoof.
Or are you guys all illegal?! :)

I have only received a couple to date from an adjusting firm and from the cia. Has anyone noticed any ill effects to your computers due to this virus or know what it is supposed to do?

Yep, they're spoofs. The FBI would knock on your door with a warrant. The CIA would deny they ever existed. The IRS on the other hand.........
These e-mails kinda remind me of the old scams. The ones where some poor bloak died in Zimbabwi (or wherever) and left an estate of $50,000,000.00. All they needed was your full name, date of birth, ssn and bank account number so they could transfer it to you. They would then split it with you 50/50. I can't believe some idiots actually fell for it.......ok, ok...maybe I did, but it was only once.

Those spoofs you were talking about are still going on. A colleague of mine received this one a couple months ago. He then actually replied to it with the message under “Answer.” I thought his answer was one of the funniest things I’d ever read but you may only be able to appreciate it if you’ve been getting these “Nigerian-type” e-mails for 10 yrs+ like I have. I just would have loved to see the face of the guy at the other end when he read the answer. Sorry for the lengthy post.

Fox News is reporting tonight about the FBI/CIA E-mails. They are spreading a worm. I am sooo glad I didn't open that attachment like my curiosity wanted me to!
