Lonestar, You have touched on one point in favor of the truck....How about safety..... Face it folks, we put in a whole bunch of windshield time....I run between 1500-2000 miles a month doing my staff gig......Do you think that a small vehicle is a as safe as a larger, F250 or F150??? Maybe, but the price is up there and the fuel economy is not...example, Volvo XC-90.....Safe as safe gets....fuel economy with AWD is around 18 city and 24 highway......Comfortable, ...you bet it is ....capable of hauling a heavy load...no, but would work for the adjuster that does stay in motels, etc....price is upper 30's to mid 40's...... Infinity FX35, Grand Cherokee, Expedition...etc same as above....... Now, the wife just sold her Jag X type and bought a Nissan Murrano........Fully equipped SE --low 30's...5 star crash rating...seats fold down.....19 city and 24 highway.......tow capacity of 3500lbs.........interesting.....maybe I can try it one day.... Anyway, let's get back to the trucks......I have a F 250 Diesel that I absolutely love....with some bolts ons, I get around 17 in town and 20 at speed between 70--80...below 70, I get around 20.8... Got hit on the highway at 65 mph.......I was in the far left lane, had moved over from center lane sine highway entrance coming up..... 1999 Malibu enters highway and proceeds to move across all lanes and hits me in the right rear tire and just in front of tire......I had no clue what happened...I just heard a thump....look in rear view and see this Malibu hit the center concrete barrier,etc...... I stopped, backed up, etc.......My tire was scuffed and there was a scuff mark on the panel in front of the rear tire that buffed and waxed out.......Malibu totaled...... Now, had I been in a small vehicle, I probably would have been spun out and hit the concrete center barrier......... I'll stay with my truck.......thank you...oh, I also need the tow capacity, or else I would probably drive the XC-90 AWD as it appears that it would be extremely safe and still be able to accommodate all the stuff that we carry daily and on CAT duty...... Just my 2 cents.....
