I found this website tonight. I am trying to get trained before the season, in case I get picked up by someone.

http://www.claimsuniversity.com/bootcamp.html

Does anyone know about these folks and what are your opinions?

Most of the places I have found so far are full, and they might be too.

Bill, this is a new one on me. This site seems to be new and I never found a location or physical address mentioned on the site but I may have just missed it because some of the links seemed to broken.

Claims University is related to Claims Unlimited of Lake Jackson, TX. I think they are a fine company. I have never worked for them but I have taken two XM8 classes and an 8 hour class on Commercial Adjusting presented by the head of Farmers Commercial Dept. Their classes were all well run and got right into the material to be covered without a long introduction. I think I met most of the key people there and thought they were all top notch.
I do not know anything about this Boot Camp course, but I am sure you would learn a lot from it. I do not know what the cost is
If you go please let me know what you think about it when you finish.

I found the links to work, and looks like a promising class for us newbies.  30 CE hours too for the bootcamp.

Some of you may have studied this adjusting course from a school in Dallas featured in this 1959 ad. : ) This ad deserves its own thread. For Real!

I know the owners of Claims Unlimited personally. Kelly and Lynn Gillespie are father and son, with the son, Kelly, running daily business. They are both fine folks. Lynn Gillespie (the dad) last worked with me in Florida. We were 2 cubicles away from each other in the large loss review dept. of Citizens last year. He had told me then that Kelly, his son, was starting a company in Lake Jackson.  I know several people that have worked for Claims Unlimited since the company began last year and they have nothing but praise for them. I was invited to a 'Hurricane Summit' at their offices last month. They had brought in about 30-40  well seasoned adjusters to show off their claims tracking software (which is awsome by the way), show us the offices, introduce us to the folks that might be handling our claims, and then fed us a steak dinner.

They need a work pool, just like anyone else. They personally know us 30-40 adjusters, but in a large cat event, they know they'll need more. I'm guessing that's why they started the boot camp. Another friend of mine was asked to help with the boot camp held in Dallas last month. He called me when it was over stating that he was very impressed with the level of training they gave. I'm sure they feel that they can pull the brightest students out of this class and put them to work with light residential, to start, in the next event.  The not-so-bright students will need further training and we all know that some of those will never make it to their first cat.

It's a company definitely worth watching. I certainly would have no qualms about working with them.
