I know a few people who have done that, and yes it is at your own leisure, however the test must be moderated by a licensed Adjuster. And really if you dont know Policy, it will be a tough way to go. my 2 cents:)

Wow...my first post! I have been lurking for a while now. After having let my license expire for several years I had to take the exam again. The local classes were all full for several weeks so I took the class you are asking about. As Port said, if you don't know the policy then IMO you will not have a very good chance of success on your first try. There are approximately 160 "modules" that you will have to work through which also requires that you take a 10 question quiz at the end of each one. If you do not make at least a 70 on each quiz then you have to redo that module before you can move on to the next. IMO, the modules are very boring. Additionally, the online program sometimes gets "hung" and the only way to proceed is to call customer service to get it reset. This happened to me on several occassions. If you are in the middle of taking one of the quizes, you have to redo that module over again. The amount of time I spent on hold was excessive IMO. You do have to have someone witness you taking the final 150 question exam and they must sign an affidavit stating that they watched you take the exam and that you did not cheat or use any notes to take the exam. It was mentioned here that they sent you your completion form in 24 hours but I didn't receive mine for about a week. Then, you still have to deal with the DOI to actually receive your license. I live in Texas and that process took about 3 weeks. Based on the previous statements I would NOT recommend this particular online course. It's very slow, boring, often times contradicts itself and still has a few bugs in it as shown by the software freezing up from time to time. Whichever route you go, don't make the foolish mistake I did by letting your license lapse ( I owned a fire & water restoration co. for 7 years and just didn't need my license) as it is time consuming and somewhat expensive to get a new one. Good luck and hope this helps. Russ

This is exactly what i am looking at. My question is which of the on line PC training providers is most reasonable with little or no computer glitches?

The course definately contradicts itself at times, and makes you answer questions on the quizzes incorectly. I am currently on the last "chapter" and will be taking the test in a few days. I just hope that the test does not have the flaws that the quizes do.

One thing--taking the course/test in Texas (I recommend Dearborn Financial if one can afford it) lends itself to give-and-take and allows you the opportunity to make contact with others in various industry postions. (There are "adjusters" who've obtained their Texas License via a loophole--mailing proof of license from their resident state that does not require testing. Cost?--$50 to $60.)
