Does anyone know where I can attend the IDL and do I need to be sponsered? I see Whorley has one but I was looking for something closer in FL.

Yes, you need to be sponsored.

Yes, Worley is fine.

Then, once your name goes for registration by the sponsoring vendor, you will in turn receive a several page listing of what seemed like over 100 IDL locations.  You can pick your favorite location and if all goes well, you and maybe hundreds more on the next IDL day will be sitting in different rooms all over North America; listening and watching to the basic, but first required step in the State Farm process.

Some of this may have changed in the last 10 -15 years, but I hear the above is still a fair replica of the general process.

Does State Farm, via their sponsoring vendors, still put out all those great study manuals?  They are on every topic that they used to "certify" in, great reference manuals to always have with you on the road.  Used to cost $60.00 for the large set from the sponsoring vendor.

I was sponsored by Eberl's earlier this year.  You can get more info @ eberls.com.

The next regularly scheduled SF IDL is in October.  You can go to any of the 4 companies that have a national contract with them (E. A. Renfroe, Eberl's, Pilot and Worley) and they will sponsor you for the IDL.  Normally the IDL registration opens about a month before the IDL date and then the companies begin taking names for attendance.  You can call any of these companies and you should be able to get additional info.  If you decide to call Worley call 1-888-887-8070 and ask for Mary Lucas.

As for the training material, there are only two certifications now and the material should be available from any of the four companies listed above.  We sell our for about reproduction costs plus shipping.

As far as being closer it doesn't matter which company sponsors you as the IDL is put on in cities around the country normally at SF offices.  It consists of one day of sitting in front of a TV monitor for a live interactive broadcast where you can talk back to the presenters via audio hookup.  After this you are able to attempt the SF certification test (Wind & Hail and also Basic Estimatics).

If you need additional info feel free to contact me.
