Perhaps I was not exercising due patience. Just didn't see many posts falling into the 2 threads dealing with this.

How does (or will) the NIAA differ from the NACA ( www.nacatadj.org) and the NAIIA ( www.naiia.com )?

NAIIA is made up of independent insurance adjuster companies. As for the difference between NACA and the proposed NIAA, one of the officers can address what those are as they can compare their charter that is being done to what NACA claims of their group.

I had made a legitimate inquiry to Mr. Estes, the erstwhile "founder" of this organization asking for a public clarification as to the origin of the GIA designation and which professional organization offers such a title. For some reason, that post was removed by a moderator or someone. ??? Is someone hiding something or trying to cover for a fallacy? I think it is vitally important that the credibility of those putting this deal together be subject to the closest scrutiny. You are asking people to make a substantial investment out of their pockets and possibly directly into YOURS! Will you be forthright in answering that question Mr. Estes?

I have held back from comments while I thought about this. We went through efforts before, but the fact that we are indpendent cusses with many differing ideas has always held us back. That combined with every major storm delaying things. The goals seem reasonable and good people have stepped up. At this time there is one aspect I would like to know more about. That is Roy Estes G.I.A. founding member and executive director. What is an Executive Director and is it (as is normal in non profits) a paid postion. I know Roy first appeared on this site on 9/15/05 selling sat. units for internet. At that time and for a while I didn't know or have any reason to believe he was an adjuster. He appears to be from Indianapolis and licenced in Fl and Tx. Roy now appears to have been adjusting for many years and handling major losses. He was also running or owning a 53 million dollar company. He has a designation called a GIA (I am unable to find out what this means). As Roy appears to be the driving force behind this association and holds a major position. I would like to know more about the man behind (and running?) the movement be for I decide to join.

Can't say that I agree or disagree with your comments. My concern remains that there has been little concrete info or "rah rah" follow-up. I'm sure Roy has more info to share with us in the near future, but surely has some hoops to jump through especially after his injury.

The most important question I have is whether the organization is to remain non-profit? The only reason I ask is that there are already similar IA organizations throughout the country and many publish directories, market them to insurance companies and then charge IA's to have their name listed. Is this an objective? Thanks.

Mark, I think Roy himself should let you know the answers to your questions as he is the one spearheading this organization and he can also explain the GIA designation.

Thank you Steve, I appreciate the opportunity to answer any questions, anyone may have with reagrds to NIAA. And Myself. Actually I started in this industry, or profession in 1991. I specialized in Intellectual property, Which included most all facets of financial claims. Which I was required to carry an Recovery agent license, and a PI License as well as others. So I was doing all Casualty stuff. Please see attached in Pdf I found that I could make a heck of allot of money, And really the financial Adjuster business lead me into the Property Business, We found ourselves doing allot of property stuff in conjunction with our casualty & Liability Business, So I spun off Track & Tire, Inc. (also Please see attached) Track & Tire, Was in the business of Large loss restoration, as well as many other aspects of business. We were being Used by carriers to Estimate, And Bid on All types of losses. All over the Country And were very successful in this business, The carriers would utilize Us to Go into Larger losses and Estimate the losses, which 20% of the time gave us an IN with the policyholder, ultimately resulting in award of the bid. In 2000 or so I suffered a major Heart attack, and while I was in The hospital, I learned I had Leukemia. So Double Indemnity for me. I have been fighting cancer now every day since. So as a result I sold All My Business's and Assets, and tried to retire. As apart of my buyout I had the Corporation Who Purchased My Company, Which was a mutual company, pay me in partial or down Payment a Provost Bus, so I loaded, my Harley, and my Escalade, and hit the road, And got really bored, And ended up in Vegas, and spent most all of it except what I couldn't, sold the provost and bought a new Monaco, So My Friend who owns a larger Daily and Cat firm, asked me to work some comm. claims for him in 2003 or something like that. So I re Upped My License and here I are. I don't do this for only the money, It fulfills me. And I Love to travel As I Do Full time. I love to help people, AND THOSE WHO KNOW ME WILL ATTEST TO THIS. As I do, and since I am Not a rich man, this is a way for me to help, and I work very hard as we all do. AND have learned it is what money CANNOT BUY that is what is Important to me. Hence, Cletus, and Hence NIAA. And BTW, I took the EX Director Postion for Inc., and Trademark purposes ONLY, and have spent Hundreds of hours, and My PERSONAL Money, with no expecations on any return. AND as soon as Mr. Toll Finds a suitable Replacement for Ex Director, It is my Plans to Step Down. I AM DOING THIS FOR ALL OF YOU! As far as satellites are concerned, I built one for myself, And I Found that Cat Adjusters wanted them, SO as I was deployed,(And I too Like to read and study so I got my FCC license as well) I built and sold them and made a whopping 200.00 each., and MOST THE TIME went backwards, But there again it wasn't about the money, or fame. And I Must admit I have helped many, As I Knew that a higher speed Internet was crucial, At that point I had never heard of CADO. Until such time as a good friend of mine told me that I would be helping out immensely by posting on CADO. Currently, I am 65% or so Complete with MyAIC Designation. When I enrolled the Online Instructor said "What are you now?" and I replied nothing, and he said "well your licensed and have the experience" and he further said " your a GIA" So that's where I got that. Not that AIC or any designation will change who I am, or my background, I just was never afforded the Luxury of a formal Education. Except what I had Learned, and CE, and Certs, and all of that, And I Did Take an Engineering course once, but never completed it because what they were teaching, had nothing to do with engineering I felt. Plus, It was really boring. So If I Offended any one of you, or anyone else for that matter, Please accept my sincerest apologies. As it has since been corrected. And you are right, I have Never Done Hull losses, or malpractice claims.. So again please accept my apologies for the wording "ALL FACETS" when I should have said "Allot of facets" I have an extencive background, maybe not as much as most of you, but who's really counting? And to me, I Learn from Folks Like all of you So Thank you Today, I have taken the initiative to Spearhead what I and allot of others feel is needed in the industry, and that is a national association that is active, and Proactive for us all. And have asked some of the people I Know, and have a great deal of respect for, to direct this association, for the betterment of us all. Young, And Old alike. Newbie, and Veteran Like yourself as well, without prejudice, and with the intent to make us all better. For me. I can honestly say That it isn't the money, or the fame, it's what money fame cant do, is my primary focus and goals these days. And have seen many a veteran really go sideways, and this to me is a sin because the Industry really needs the people Like All of you, MY FRIENDS, for a heading and a purpose in the right direction. I ONLY WISH MY GOALS AND DIRECTIONS WERE ABOUT THIS WHEN I HAD THE LARGE BUSINESS'S, ALTHOUGH I STILL HAVE MANY CARRIER CONTACTS, AND DO NOT DESIRE TO DO ANYTHING MORE OR LESS THAN WHAT I AM CURRENTLY DOING. TODAY FOR ALL WHAT I FEEL IS THE RIGHT REASONS! I realize I Don't have Much time left here on earth, and can truly look into the mirror today, even with terminal cancer, and look at a happy man. I do appreciate your kind concerns, and input. And Pray that all of you continue to enjoy your lives, and continue to be a major contributor to the things that are important to the new folks coming in to the business. And truly hope to sometimes run across you , and Possibly let me show you how Us Texas Boys BBQ a nice Brisquet. To end this, I do pray that All of you will be kind to each other, And I Leave you withthis which I recived this AM, from An Adjuster who is Helping us and dontaing her time like all of your Directors OF NIAA has been doing. I need everyone to know that any motivations that I have are of everything that is right, and good for everyone, and never ever has it been for any other reason. Instead of us scrutinizing each other, and Judging each other let us scrutinize ourselves, and not allow any judgement of anyone at anytime. Do what is right, and in the best interest of right, Because I can HONESTLY TELL YOU, Life is Short, and there can and WILL be a time, when you will have no opportunities to RIGHT, what is wrong. CAN I MAKE A DIFFRENCE? NO MATTER WHAT, I WILL ALWAYS TRY! - God wont ask you what kind of car you drove, He'll ask how many people you drove who didnt have transportation.
- God wont ask you the Sq footage of your house, He'll ask How many people you welcomed into your home.
- God wont ask about the clothes you had in your closet, he'll ask how many you helped to clothe.
- God wont ask you what your highest salary was, or what kind of prestige you had He'll ask you if you compromised your character to obtain it.
- God wont ask you what your job title was. He'll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability, and who you helped to obtain theri best.
- God wont ask you how many friends you had, He'll as how many people to whom you were a friend.
- God wont ask you in what neighborhood you lived, He'll ask you how you trated your neighbors.
- God wont ask you about the color of your Skin, He'll ask you about the content of your character.
- God wont ask why it took so long to seek salvation, He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in heaven, and not to the gates of hell.
And today I fell off a roof, shattered my wrist, and chipped my skull, Ironically here In Indy. so please accept my apologies for the hunt and peck typing. Imagine that. Very Kindly, Your friend Roy Estes ( No Designations except )

Roy E, thanks for your post. I am even more optimistic now that NIAA will go forward to reach its objectives. A man is never better than the people who are willing to get behind him. You have done well in that department. Keep the faith even when many are telling you to toss in the towel.

I can attest to Roy’s character, since I have met him in person. I have witnessed his genuine love for all he interacts with – he brings people together and makes them smile, daily. He impacts people in all walks of life, having brushed death in his past and fighting a terminal illness today – which he tried to keep a secret, his terminal illness, until today. Roy is a unique individual who genuinely cares for strangers and those around him – as a friend and professional he has won my respect.

Roy, Wow! I'm speechless, and that's hard to do to me, as I'm a talker! I am humbled by your compassion, intelligence, drive, stamina, and desire to make this world a better place. I know by your mere presence, you have already done so, and add to that your contributions, what can I say but wow! For a person who usually can say what she feels, I truly am dumbfounded at the moment. I can't think of anything to say that would tell you what I'm feeling inside right now...only to say that I am honored to know you and that my life has already been enriched by your presence, and that I honestly pray that as the years pass you will be here to add your combination of humor, sensitivity and thoughtfulness to these posts and to my life. Your Friend, ~Meg~

I would say that is a viable, solid response, and comes from a sincere heart IMHO...organizational success becomes reality only when leadership has experience, drive, initiative, and values such as Roy's.

Roy, My prayers were already for you and fellow adjuster in Indy for your recent accidents. Now I extend them for all things concerning health and recovery. After reading your post, which btw was excellent, and I commend you on achievements and ideas. However, one point did stick out to me, you need to travel about 200 miles due east of where you are and find out how an Illinois boy does brisket! LB

Let's see. You sold a 53 Million $ company, took the money and went to Vegas and blew it. Then you sold your RV for a grub stake and started adjusting. Last photo I saw of you, posted on caddo was you in front of a slot machine. Now you want folks to send you money for a new association. No thanks, I'll pass !

That was mean and mean people ****! All of us have had some kind of an event in life that sets into motion loss or a series of losses. In the end, the only thing that matters is the lessons of life learned and the contributions made to the moment or life of another.
