Don't know anything about the ladder, but here's a website where you can read about it: http://www.rewci.com/tellad.html

I use a 32' fiberglass ladder for two story roofs. The ladder works great. The only issue I have is , when driving over 50mph, there is a very loud high pitched noise. The faster you go the louder it gets. I have tried switching ends when I put the ladder on the rack, no improvement. Has any else had this problem, and how did you resolve.

If the rungs are open to the rail, you get noise. The only way you can top this is to plug the holes with duct tape of something else. Then the wind whistle will stop.

DavidR, If it'll fit, add a fairing. I had a LG ladder on my roof rack and it made a whistle. As soon as the fairing was added, it deflected the wind and the noise stopped.

David, I've had the same problem. My solution was found by talking with a cable contractor one morning while getting breakfast. He had filled all of the rungs with the "Great Stuff" insulation that comes in a can. It expands in the rungs and you have to trim off the excess but it definitely stops that annoying whistle....Hope this helps.

I am looking for a new ladder. In its storage position it must be shorter than 4'1". Fully extended I would like it to be 13'-15'. I would like it to have a flared base for stability. Anybody know of a ladder than fits this description. I like the Telesteps ladders but I have not seen one with a flared base.

All were great answers ! I think the great stuff foam will be what I use instead of duct tape. For the one who ask about a good ladder 13' to 15'. I have two other ladders. "Lowes" My first is a fold up aluminum 12' Light weight , easy to handle. My second is a 21' Little Giant "knock off". This has the wide base. I will mention one thing. The wide base on the bottom is ok, but it also has a wide top end. The problem with that is when your trying to swing from the roof . Because of the spread, I have to swing out. I used to think this one was heavy until I started hoofing that 32 footer by myself. What ever you go with, PLEASE remember ladder safty. It only takes once, and it's always when not expected.

Wes: The wood Stapelton, will fit in the truck and the extension will get you two more foot. the three section will give you enough to get on/off on a low roof. Very safe. Mine is 48" . Not flared at the base. The telsteps have some flare at the base and good rubber tips .Telsteps will be my next as I can check on the plane.

I have a telestep, and would not reccomend. Mine may be the exception, but I have had a couple of the runs not "lock" into place, they feel like they are locked until I put my 225 lbs on it almost to the top and it collapsed down a run. I didnt fall but I think I needed new shorts after that. I contacted telesteps and they would not warranty. Just my 2 cents.

You all know the old saying, you get what you pay for. We have two Little Giants for a number of years and have had no trouble with them. We use them at home to paint and clean gutter, against trees to saw limbs, etc. They just keep goin and goin,

Cosco knock off of the Little Giant is $150 at Lowes or Home Depot, and works great. Little Giant is super heavy. Also consider if crawling two stories, going to a truck and carrying a 28-32 foot extension so you don't have to do double pulls. Many people do this every year, and it is very dangerous. I know, I took a spill last year in Miami, and only fell about 8 feet, and suffered for several months. Good luck

I was in Ace hardware this morning, and they have a Telesteps knock-off, made in China, called the Extendastep or some such. Was priced at $189. Seemed kinda heavy, but then I have never lifted a Telesteps ladder to see if there was any difference. Certainly not too heavy to work with, and very handy to carry around. By the way, I saw a clip someone posted to a board, that showed a Telesteps being sold and demo'd on a Cable TV sales channel. The ladder worked just fine, but the guy climbing it fell and crashed big time. They cut away, so as not to defeat the purpose of the show (selling the ladder) so I do not know how he fared. I thought it interesting in light of this conversation. I once had a telescoping ham radio tower that had three sections, two that cranked up and down inside an outer one, with an open lattice work construction. Easy to climb, as there were "rungs" all the way up. One day the lift cable broke just after I got off of it, causing it to "telescope" to the ground - HARD. Imagine what would happen to fingers hooked inside the outer section to hang on.. Sold it soon after. I do not see the Telesteps causing that kind of damage, but can appreciate the need for clean linen after experiencing a one foot drop while standing on it. Hey, if it was easy, everybody would be doing it ;*) Jack Nichols Fort Worth

I'm a big guy (290 pounds) and I was wondering if these ladders are strong enough.
