I have the two sizes of the Gorilla ladders and they are both rated at 300 pounds.  The 17' Cosco I have is rated at 250 pounds.

ranger, can you give me the exact height of your ladders in their collapsed storage position?  Thanks in advance.  I have 4'1" in the back of my Explorer Sport Trac with the tailgate closed.

The 11' Gorilla folds to 43", the 17' Cosco folds to 55.5" and the 22' Gorilla folds to 67".  The 11' ladder is good for homes with slab foundations, the 17' ladder is good for homes with pier-and-beam foundations and the 22' ladder is for two-story homes.  The 22' Gorilla is heavy and it takes too long to set up and I always have it with me for two-story homes and commercial buildings.

Wes,  you're out of luck.  I too have a Sport Trac and none of the LG type ladders will fit with the tailgate closed and/or toneau cover down.
If the darn thing was just a little longer.

Yeh dcmarlin I love my Sport Trac but the bed is too short for my 17' articulated ladder.  I carry the ladder with the tailgate down and the bed cover closed.  The Telesteps would be a perfect fit but I just don't trust that ladder.  I like a wider base for stability.  I would like a ladder that will extend to about 13-15' and be 4'1" when in storage.  By the way check out our Sport Trac forums here.

I've been using the 12'5" Extend and Climb telescoping ladder rated at 225lbs.  Adjusted over 200 houses with it last season!  Not a problem with it.  They also make one rated at 300lbs.  Its been a great ladder!  I also have the Multi-function 22' Gorilla ladder.  I only use it when I HAVE to.  But 95% of the time I'm using the "scope" ladder.

I like telesteps for areas with lots of low roofs. However, SAMSCLUB has a ladder for $99 that is a 17' knock-off of the little Giant that I use most of the time now. It is still lightweight enough to use all day and high enough to reach 90% of roofs. It is also a 300 lb rated ladder.

I am having a difficult time selecting my ladder of choice.  What is your opinion of these two?
One is cheaper but the other has the dual option for added height.

A bucket truck would be nice for those examiners that want "photos from the ridge" on a two-story 15/12 pitch.

This is one of the best ladders that I have ever used.  I purchased one last year before I went out on storm.  I have climbed onto @500 houses with no problems!

claims_ray,
Since each comes with two ladders, they are perfect for double pulls!

I bought a 17' Werner at Costco for $99.  (It sounds very similar to the Cosco ladder bought at Sam's Club by others noted above)

I collapses down to 55" and I had absolutely no problems with it.

I don't know about Sam's Club, but here in the northwest we have Costco where they will take anything back.  Two years of use on the ladder and it malfunctions...get your money back, no questions asked.  Makes it a pretty low risk purchase.

That return policy is also good for folks that bought a new ladder, but may not find a use for it this year or next.

I use a folding Gorilla ladder.  A little bit heavy but very sturdy and indestructible.  Highly recommended.

This goes for any peice of equipment:

The more moving parts you have, the higher chance it has of breaking or failing.

Compare the amount of parts there are between the stapleton, little giant, werner folding ladder versus the telesteps or extendaclimb.  I've used all of these except for the extendaclimb.  The telesteps ladder broke after just a few months of daily claims use while a staff adjuster (what I mean: that's as slim as the ladder usage gets for an adjuster).
