Does anyone know anything about Bermuda? Has anyone gotten a call to go there? |

Well, it's a British colony. If they did need adjusters I think they would probably look to London rather than the US. |

When did Crawford Canada change from Crawford THG?? I worked for them in Montreal in 98 and that was the name then....fun working up there, cold though. I hate it when the radio says minus 22 and the gas is frozen in the gas lines. It's a mite colder than New Orleans. Funny money too, Loonies and Toonies. |

Tom: Do you speak French?
I worked Andrew and of course everybody speaks Spanish in S. Dade. At the end of my Dade gig, I worked for Crawford up in Ft. Lauderdale. Worked auto. Crawford had a large contract with a Montreal insurer. I was doing autos owned my French Canadians. Of course, they speak French. I go from Spanish to French within 50 miles. Joke among us English speaking dudes was that the last guy out had to grab the American flag, becuause we're all heading further north where the majority still speak English. It was a wild time down there. Miss it at times. |

You laugh about Miami, but I was looking through the manual that came with a new Canon lense for my 35mm camera and they listed their regional home offices, the US office is in New York, the Mexican regional office is in Mexico City, Guess where the South American regional office is?
You guessed it, Miami, FL.
I thought that was hilarious. |

Actually Kile, I did not mean that as a joke, but meant it seriously. Your example proves the point I was trying to make. When you think about it, there are direct daily airline flights from Miami to each and every one of the Central and South American countries, while there is generally only weekly or biweekly but generally not daily service between the countries down there. Miami is the airline hub for all of Latin America. As such, Miami actually makes a great deal of sense as the regional office for many US and foreign companies serving Latin America.
As I understand it, teenagers cannot get a job at a McDonalds or Burger King in Miami unless they are bilingual, and many if not most of our US citizens down there have at least some fluency in Espanol, especially those in service industries.
As a Miami policeman told me once down there, "last week they were driving a mule in Nicaragua and this week they are driving a beat up Chevy in Miami" (if you can call what they do driving. Worst drivring I have ever seen was in Miami).

Traffic in Miami. Yes indeed, it's the worst in the U.S. I lived in Houston and traffic there is REAL BAD, but nothing like Miami. I asked one of the locals what is it with the traffic. I was told first of all, you had all of the old white haired ladies, then all of the people from Latin, Central and South America driving a car for the first time and not being able to read English. Made sense to me. |

Miami is the only place I have ever been where everybody turns left and clogs the intersection and then starts honking. I put an air horn on my truck just so I could participate. |
