A question to all the seasoned adjusters. As a new adjuster, what would I expect to see from a vendor to be a reasonable fee schedule, % of pay and how often an adjuster should get paid? While working a hurricane. I realize that everyone is differant, but I would like to know what would be reasonable. Also, please don't laugh at this question. By chance do you of any vendors that offer weekly/bi weekly draws to help with expences? I have receivced many calls to be put on stand-by but the one who offers draws would be the one I would prefer to work with. Thanks for your help, Rich Rbeckintexas@aol.com

Mr. Pilot 48:

I think you are onto something. Thanks for the insight. Maybe we should all require strong retainers before packing our bags. Does sentry claims pay retainers?

I appreciate the very informative answers. I can see where a new hire could pick up a lot of info hanging out after the storm was over and tag along as a "hey boy" on clean up. That is without pay of course, the education would be worth a lot.
With the claims being so scarce the past few years, I would not hesitate to work cleanup, even though it is a pain. I don't think its the work, its just the idea cleaning up someone elses goof. Nine times out of ten you got a very irate customer and you have to go that extra mile to make him a friend.
I have had my share of this in construction. I normally had at least one building a month that I had to finish because the previous contractor had ended up in litigation over a goofed up job.

I attended the NFIP workshop and have got to send my application in, not to mention, I have 37CEU'S for the first year and have not notified Texas. I may get busy and send out my resume, and rethrash some material I have.
After the convention in Mobile my wife got sick and I kind of dropped the ball. All I have been doing is reading and trying to grasp these software systems for claims. Gale Hawkins helped me a whole lot at the convention and I did enjoy the visit with him. No adjuster should miss a CADO convention if at all possible. The fellowship is worth a lot not to mention the education.
If deployed, drive safely.

RBECKINTEXAS we pay 65% even to the new guys. You don’t get near the claim count at first but we do give you a chance to work up to it. Retainers, we don’t pay. No one paid one to any of us when we got started. Pilot48, you do represent what we all have done in the past and look to do in the future. I extend out our hand and say thank you. Our door is always open to you.

Well like I said. The 2 cowards that were talking trash on our bulletin did not have the guts to call me. That should tell you all what type of people they are. LOL. They are really sad. If you even consider listening to them, well you deserve what you get and God help you if you do listen to them.

I am sorry to interject in this firefight, since my online time is severely limited the last few days, and generally come here just to view the posts. I will respond as quick as possible.

I have noticed something that must be brought out. I have noticed Texcat (Jim Giles) has posted a favorable reponse in the aboved post. I think fairness dictates that everyone understand that TEXcat is a co-owner of Sentryclaims as listed from their website. It is interesting that he posts that he has already committed to "Pilot" since he has ownership in Sentry.

I take no position in this debate, but it seems if statements are to be made, they need to be made openly and honestly

I posted this on the other post as well!!

Cowards????
I have left my name and number with your answering service. Call people cowards and roll your phone to the answering service, typical.

OK, what did I miss. All of a sudden "sentryclaims" goes off on Ted for something that I can't seem to find. Was it something he said on another post? I don't understand the level of anger in the post directed at Ted. It sounds like he struck a nerve, but I can't seem to find it. Can somebody help me out here?

I too can't find out where it is. Further......I don't seem to get any idea Sentry has committed to me, other then asking me to call the office on Monday.....if you guys have some magic window, please give me the password.

What I read was one proessional adjuster telling another professional and seasoned adjuster to give him a call...........is this really you business?

SENTRY,I sent you my info, and will consider seriously, when you say 65%, of what? 1% of the total claim amount, or 65% of $300.00

Yes cowards. I had the phone on until 6:30pm waiting, and no call from you 2 cowards. I just checked email and the service has had no calls. You are a liar. Guest 98 just left a noticed that he has no Idea about. Texcat is a totally different person, unless he is a Famous Football Player. Please follow the link that he has supplied. Then make sure you go around the site and take a look at his photo.
RBECKINTEXAS we pay the later. If the service invoice is 300.00 we pay the adjuster 65% of that amount = 195.00 to the adjuster, no holdback.

Boys,

This has gotten out of control!!! Tonight everyone should happier than hell that we have the MOTHERLOAD heading for the upper east coast.
Ya'll sip some suds, pat your wife, and pack your bags. Most seasoned adjusters know which venders they would work this storm with.

Jimmie Giles – Owner - Manager

If i made an error, i apologize, and i did make a second post on your bulletin saying if this was not the same info I apologize to Texcat. Good thing Texcat knew enough about your company to immediately recognize he shared the same name as " JIM GILES the professional football player that is an owner in your comapny.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but as I said I live by the rule The obvious is almost always the truth.

I am locked in for the next couple years, I hope everyone partners in mutually beneficial relationships.

The only thing I may add is. I certainly don't hope the person posting for Sentry is an owner. While it seems he is more than ready to respond to his payschedules, and is probaly a great trained experienced adjuster, i have gotten the impression he is not one to be diagreed with, with a high degree of emotion and I would feel very uncomfortable about maintaining a long term working relationship with him. Independant Adjusters by their nature are independant people with high degrees of drive and determination, and I myself would think our relationship would be a powder keg.
MAYBE after Isabel hits we can all calm down, get down to good honest work for the insured

It will be interesting to see what posts will be here in 6 months to a year, and how the rate the employer page will look

Good luck to all and be safe
