A willing buyer and a willing seller will always control prices/cost in the USA. Not insurers, not repairmen. |

Ray, I disagree with a few things in this thread but wanted to respectfully express my disagreement with your 2nd sentence, which I feel conflicts with your 1st.
Whether it is adjuster versus vendor, or repairman versus insurer; the willing buyer and willing seller concept does control prices and costs in those venues.
We have heard and read to great length about adjusters flocking to vendors for whatever fee schedule was offered. Similarily with repairmen / contractors, there has been and will continue to be sufficient of them that will agree to whatever an insurer is willing to pay. |

Ray, the concept of "graded adjusters" (a.k.a. standardized levels of competency) should be another chapter withion the Organizational forums; I think.
Relative to supply and demand, two basic things have to happen (which involves many factors). First, create the 'supply', i.e. the grading or standardizing etc. Second, create the 'demand', which is a marketing, lobbying and information effort of some magnitude directly to carriers, vendors and the insured public.
Other than that, we should take this interesting thought to the appropriate forum, where I would look forward to your detailed views on this. |

Why the censorship of our postings?
The latest information we wanted to share and receive feedback on is not just "another" OP issue but solid proof of insurer underestimating methodology that we and many others have experienced across the nation.
Not allowing feed back when the heart of a large scale claim settlement matter is being exposed is unfair as no "user agreement" stipulations or principles have been breached.
Again...why the censorship of our concerns and reader ability to reply? |

Con Man,
WHO is the "WE" in your sentence ..."The latest information we wanted to share..."?
Are you speaking as spokesperson for a group and if so which group or as an individual poster?
Secondly, why don't you confine your sharing of information with those helpful folks down at the Texas Department of Insurance or all those rocket scientists over at the Allstate Logic Lab (a/k/a AllstateInsuranceSucks.com)?
It just isn't applicable to our interests, what we do, or anything we have any power or control over.
I have some other questions for you, but will save them for later. |

Clayton,
With all due respects to your delicate sensebilities, you are correct in that we, collectively, have cussed and discussed similar topics over the years. But, I have suspicions that our Recon Man is providing strong hints as to an ulterior motive. What that is, I can't yet see thru the smoke and mirrors, but the odor of a dead rat wafts across my snout.
There is also the issue of someone outside our 'family' interfering in our internal squabbles. Think about it, this guy comes in and immediately gets us all riled up without going thru the process of easing into becoming one of the group. That was rude and wrong. It is one thing for one of us to rear up and roar, because we are family, we are the group. Consider this example: Your wife comes in and roars that you are addicted to that computer, she doesn't like it, and loudly demands you get off your duff and spend time with her. Are you insulted and angry? No. But, if a stranger comes in and does this, do you have the same reaction? I should think not. It would quickly escalate from words, to anger, fists, knives, and guns to rid the stranger from your house. He and your wife have just said the same thing in the same fashion. She belongs there, and the stranger does not.
This metaphor matches what Recon Man is doing here. It is rude, it is wrong, and there is something going on out there that is causing me to see all kinds of red flags. From another angle, I see our coming together as a group to be an encouraging sign of our unity. From Roy and the moderators and all of the herd, we are showing the true power of this website and our collective character as restrained professionals until we have either the goods on him or he figuratively hangs himself by his own petard. Judging by the intelligence being gathered, it won't be long now. |

Did you read our latest topic "How Insurer[s] Underpay Claims"... ?
Now mind you it was delivered with a flavor of humor...and the reply capability is locked...which is becoming quite the rage with our topics...but the issue is something absolutely applicable to your interests...they were all cat claims...and right from an insurers mouth...
Got your sharpened crayon...the dots are awaiting...
Would you bend to such bizarre construction estimating / claim settlement logic "philosophy" in the name of..."I was just doing as the carrier instructed"..?
Or have you already?
Questions are OK...but "control the claim" type mentality interaction won't work with us...

You know Ghostbuster, being stuck inside this afternoon amid the aftermath of a nice snow and ice storm, I had perhaps too much time on my hands as well as the thought that perhaps you and I might want to finally develop that International Center For Insurance Peace and Justice which we have always talked about.
Since you mentioned perhaps building down in Westlaco, Texas where component pricing seems to be so cheap, I decided to check into finding us one of those first class general contracting firms to erect our masterpiece of design and function.
Since our newfound friend here suggested he was a "G.C" I figured why reinvent the wheel, but as you have always said, make sure you check 'em out. So that's what I did.
First of all Ghost, Ol Roger (Roger D. Poe) and his company, have the creativity to call their operation ABC-RDP Roofing Company. Imagine that. Not ABC-RDP General Contractors, but ABC-RDP Roofing Company. What a great way to hide from the crowds beating a path to your door when the cash registers are full and you're ready for a break. Why didn't we think of that Ghost?
Now since you Texans have no licensing laws for contractors or general contractors, I had to accept that calling oneself a general contractor or becoming one is easier than going to Leonards and becoming a cat adjuster.
So, what I did next was check listings in Westlaco and Hidalgo County down there under (1) contractors, (2) builders, (3) general contractors, and guess what? No Roger Poe and no ABC-RDP Roofing listed under any of these categories. Those crowds beating down his door really must be getting to him.
Now the rascal is so good and has sooooo much business he has to hide from the crowds beating a path to his door right? Well, I figured a quick call to the Westlaco Chamber of Commerce could shed some light on our big huge general contractor. Nope, he's not a member at the COC and not listed with them as a "G.C."
So darn, what's a good reseacher supposed to do. Well I did remember what you once told me about local Better Business Bureaus, so a quick check there showed this large GC is not a member there. (They are compiling a list of accolades from former customers for me though, and I'll share those as received).
Ok, next stop are the local, regional and statewide roofing associations, but no luck there even for ABC-RDP Roofing Company. Dang nabbit. You're not paying me enough (10 & 10) to manage this development Ghost! This guy really knows how to hide a big huge GC Company right there in the middle of Westlaco without anyone finding him. Quite creative.
Well now, why don't we check with the Associated General Contractors Association which keeps up with and has as members these big huge successful "G.C.'s" (otherwise known as general contractors) and since they also have a category of membership for "Associates" I even checked that too. No luck Ghost. Is he good or what?
Now Ghost, you remember that "Where in the world is Carmen SanDiego" thing a few years ago you sent me chasing after?
Well, you have really sent me on a wild goose chase this time. I'm even down now to checking out the court liens, bankruptcy records, old newspaper files, criminal records, and 10 Most Wanted List. Surely he wouldn't hide amongst those skunks?
Don't worry Ghost, if Ol' Roger and his big huge "G.C" firm are out there anywhere near Westlaco or even in Texas, you know I'll find him. When you hired me as a researcher you wanted the best, right?
Just give me a little more time Ghost and perhaps consider paying me the 10 and 10. I always work a little harder for mo better money.
By the way, you don't think Ol' Roger could be pulling the wool over our eyes about being a "G.C." do you?

We're pretty sure that whole wife story thing is an analogy...not a metaphor.
By the way, a lot of your family do not share your opinions...now if only our topics will stop being locked...hmmm... |

Well Ghost, going back to your post directed to me, I think you should package that ability of yours to remove the fog from the mirrors in one clean swipe. Thank you, and I do understand with the example you stated on the label of your sample as posted.
I still feel strongly about the issue I addressed, always have, but I've said my piece on it.
Yes, Recon Roger is a phantom with a definite agenda. But, as several have stated to him, there is nothing we can do about the issues he tries repeatedly to bring into the lunchroom. If we all ignored him for the enigma that he is, he would quickly zoom out and search out a new audience to sell his tales of woe to.

Great "research" skills...you are video taping the whole "research" process right? We'd appreciate a copy...
You avoided my question up above...the one related to our latest topic "How Insurer[s] Underpay Claims"... ?
Would you bend to such bizarre construction estimating / claim settlement logic "philosophy" in the name of..."I was just doing as the carrier instructed"..?
Or have you already?
Well....? |

Recon, what is it exactly, in one sentence, that you want from the adjusters here? |
