Hey, I'm square, but I'm gonna be there. I need picture for my resume but I don't have a shatter proof lense for my camera. How about I borrow yours Russ. I'll need to use your computer also, last time I tried running my picture thru mine it puked and Wal-Mart has banned me from their photo section. I may have to get Linda to draw one, oh well:)
I'm all keyed up and ready to go, I can't wait to meet all the people there. I hope the training sessions will be staggered so I can attend as many as I can. I would like to meet the vendors too, even though I don't want to go to work right away, unless its helping someone. I can give them a resume in case they need a "hey boy".
I hope to have My SF exams out of the way this week. I don't think I could have passed the one test with out some practice, the time limit would have gotten me. Be safe and well, this is the season for all kinds if viruses, I think they come in out of the cold and jump on folks. |

If none of you young dudes show up I'll be disappointed, I'm only 75 and I hate like hell to hang out with all them old people. You never get to young or old to learn. I'm bringing my own water, the water there tastes nasty, of course I am spoiled. |

While we wait to hear more about this, there are some related comments I made today, way up in the "Events" forum. |

Well, I see we are now up to 85 people who have suggested they would attend a CADO event, by answering affirmatively in the poll forum.
There must be something I don't understand or see that makes me really wonder why there is such low interest in this event.
Have a look around the forums and reflect on the 'state of the union' with respect to the insurance claims industry as a whole, and the cat claims niche in particular.
It's not a pretty picture, especially for those who should be doing some networking, training and the invaluable interchange that can occur from the core who have set the 'standard'.
I'm not privy to the organizational planning going into this event, but even if the 85 'likely going' are committed to going; that may not be enough for this to happen. It would be a shame for those and 50 or so more, to loose out on the benefits of this event; just because they sat back and waited to see what was going to be handed to them.
Maybe a review is in order of some of the comments that preceed me here in this thread.
In addition, the industry is changing, and the change directly affects the future handling protocol for claims; including cats.
I urge those new, and those with little experience in claims adjusting, and those on their way and committed to establishing a professional career in claims; to seriously consider this event.
This event is where in three days you can gather more knowledge and useful communication, from those with common concerns; than you will anywhere else - and for a reasonable price.
If you have any interest, if you want to go, but having been waiting for the organization to 'lay it out' before you indicated your preference; speak now - email the Administrator, Linda Asberry or Russ, or anyone else you see in this thread that have indicated they are working to make this event worthwhile to you.
Tell the organizers exactly what it is you want from this event - what kind of discussions, workshops, specific training, particular seminars, certification opportunities; they are putting this together for you; I know they will try their best to accomodate you concerns.
Do it soon, we all need what this gathering can and will provide. |

I would like to see more beating of the drums on this subject, seems there are only a few concerned adjusters taking part in the cheerleader section.
I realize I need this bad, at any cost I will attend. I hate like heck to be an arm chair quarterback, being new I feel more like a spectator and cheering from the sidelines. I know there are others, new, who must have some intrest but I don't hear the noise or roar from the crowd. The silence is deafning. |

I agree wholeheartedly with Clayton. We need to have an event that is geared to Adjusters needs and Education. I'm sure I can persuade all the software Vendors to come and show their products and give training classes. I know Scott would come down and entertain questions about the changes to Integra Claim and also do a couple of beginner and advanced classes. The poor showing on the poll is really holding us back. Its a tremendous risk to guarantee a certain number of people will attend and hope you at least break even!! If you fence hangers would have come to CADO 2001 you would'nt have any problem supporting this effort!! we had a wonderful Convention, Quality educational classes, Tools of the trade, Two vendors shows, good food, Door prizes (Disto), CADO Hats, CADO golf shirts. Most important is that most of the major Adjusting firms were there to talk to and get a face to face with all the Cat Managers and Co-ordinators in the business. Did I mention the food!! I also met some real quality people that had a lot of knowledge to share, and thats priceless!! I think its so very important to support Roy and this site and make sure it Grows and Prospers. You will certainly miss a great opportunity by not supporting a Convention this year. enough said! Please work safely and have a great Day!!! |

I totally agree with Russ. Even though I was working in South Mississippi during the first CADO convention and unable to attend all the events, I certainly gained valuable information, met wonderful people, and enjoyed the food. I'm very much looking forward to the 2003 convention. To those planning this event, I'd like to take this opportunity to offer assistance, (mine & Tom's with his permission) if you feel we can help. |

This is an idea, what about carpooling, any one have suggestions, grab a neighbor against his/her will and bring them along. Any one in my area of East Central Alabama is welcome to risk your life with me. I don't mind going out of the way, I don't do Canada Clayton, I have no snow tires.:) Too many Bermuda Triangle stories so I won't be going that route either. I am only six hours from the Beau.
This may be a good time to get aquainted with other adjusters while traveling together.
Those like Clayton may find someone in route they can hook up with and save a lot of driving time. Its just a thought. |

G'day folks, who is all heading for Mobile, to attend the CADO Convention in April?
I don't know how they can have the registration costs so low, and provide so much; I gotta get me one of the CADO shirts.
Roy and his organizing group have put together a very workable and productive agenda, that is going to give everyone a great chance to get involved in all the activities and sessions.
I'm really looking forward to meeting a big bunch of people, and sharing whatever we can; that will allow each of us to advance our profession and tune our skills so we can maximize our earning potential at every opportunity that avails to us.
Only a couple of days left to get registered at the lower price; don't miss the opportunity. |

Really wish I could be there to put faces to all the fine people here on CADO. But, I have to teach that week in Kansas City. |

Ladies and Gentlemen: Now is the time for all of us to come together as a community of educated adjusters. All of our members have something to offer to each other. Not only is this convention important to all of us, it is important to the vendor and companies we represent. We exude to try and be the very best, so I challange all of you to get registered now, not later. Roy Cupps has been a tremendous asset to our community. He has donated CADO for our use for training and comradre. Let us dare not disappoint this man and ourselves.
I will be conducting a digital photograpy class and mixed in will be an attitude class with illustrations of how to keep your butt out of hot water with the insureds, vendors, and companies. Be sure and bring your digitals with you. I look forward to meeting all of you, as is my wife, Janice. This is going to be a lot of fun and certainly a strong learing experience. |

We would be interested in an Xactimate Sketch class. Sketch seems to be our weakest link and this will be a problem when we go paperless. Oh, we can use the "tutor" or the help, but someone who really knows his/her way around the program would be preferable.
We enjoyed and profited from the Digital Photography class last time and picked up Mike Stephenson's PhotoAdjuster, also. The convention was worth it just for those two jewels alone.

There is no agenda as yet. We could do one, but it would change until we know who is committed and who is not!! Without knowing the number of attendees we cant plan properly for meals, room sizes and coffee breaks. Here's what we know today!! SIMSOL, Xactimate, PowerClaim, Integra Claim will have one or MORE classes on whatever they want to teach. We will have these sessions so thet none of them are given at the same time. Anyone will be able to go to all four sessions. NFIP will give a certification on April 16, it's an all day session. Leica will also give class on their measuring devices and I'm hoping to get Delorme to show up also. We will have Vendor shows on the 16th and 17th which will include most of the Adjusting Firms: Pilot, Cunningham Lindsey, RAC, Eberls, SIMSOL,and many other Vendors. The evening of the 15th we will have a cocktail gathering and the evening of the 17th we will have a sit down dinner and give out door prizes.
Its real hard to plan when you have know Idea who's going to show up.If we plan for 150 and 250 show up at the last minute, that may be a problem. The Hotel will return your money up to 72 hours of your reservation. Roy will return your money up to the day of the Convention (except for a $10.00 fee)THERES NO REASON NOT TO REGISTER NOW, TO HELP US, HELP YOU!!! Sorry about the caps. You people don't know how frustrating and gut wrenching it is to hope we at least have enough people to fill the classes. No more preaching. If you talk to any of the fine folks that attended the last Convention you would not hesitate to join in. It will be well worth your money. The Adams Mark is a fine Hotel and the area has a great many excellent Seafood Restaurants. Gambling is only 45 minutes away in Biloxi.Enough said we will post an agenda of the classes when we are comfortable that they wont change. I will close with a HOPE that our Troops finish their job with certain Victory and no casualties. |

Well I'm real excited about this event it promises to be a great event and even bigger then our first convention.
While I don't have much time tonight I would like to add a few comments.
First, I want to take this time to thank all of the people that are helping with this event. They have all donated their time and resources. They do not receive any compensation for their efforts so when you see them at the convention please be sure to visit with them and thank them for these efforts. There would not be a convention without their help.
Many visitors may not know this but CADO is a non-revenue generating web based organization. Sure there is a little income from the banner ads, sponsors and paid members but all of this income is used to defer the operating cost of this site.
Think about this, the CADO Convention is the only convention that I'm aware of that is strictly for the adjuster. We are not trying to hire or recruit you and we don't have anything to sell you. Since this is your event your participation is needed in order to make it a success. The more that participate the better these events will become.
Can you believe that all of the people involved in the planning this convention have not seen each other since the convention in 2001! This and the fact that we all have been on assignments has possibility lead to us not updating each other as often as we should. However, we do have an agenda and the registration is going better than it has been indicated. While we are not where we would like be I still believe this will be a successful event for all involved. The agenda should go up this weekend and will be posted on the convention page.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to seeing you in Mobile.
