As stated in a prior post the number of registered users is just that a number, it was never intended to be a roster of members or adjusters we have other areas of the site for that. Of course there is nothing preventing change if the community wants to get behind the effort.
I would say that 100% of the paid membership is connected to our industry. Want to become a member? If so just follow this link, http://www.catadjuster.org/membership.asp it's only $60.00 per year. |

I believe I do see what you are saying Clayton. You are saying that we are not a force/voice/group that can/will/should influence our industry and that will not change as long as we (Speaking of "we" as being the CADO membership as a whole)are not comprised wholly of industry-related members. I believe that you are correct in that view. As I said, I'm not sure exactly what we can do about that. However, I do believe that CADO makes a difference in the industry in many ways. I know how much information I have received from this site in the last four years and how much of a difference that has made in my performance as an adjuster. Looking at it from a brick-to-brick view this site does make a difference. |

Tom, you now see exactly what I am saying.
Now, the next step is - are you satisfied with that, or do you feel CADO can and should become an industry "force & voice"; representative of a group of adjusters?
Now is not the time, to dwell on what can be done about it, not yet; we first must consider what we are satisified with or aspire to be.
I do agree, that on an individual basis for each adjuster, this site does have considerable value; I don't want my comments or presentation of this issue to be misinterpreted in that regard.
Maybe now, that my point / issue is becoming clearer, more will choose to voice their opinions and ideas.
Roy, I feel quite foolish about seeing the $60.00 membership item. I was sure that you had taken that away last year at some point.
Can / maybe / should / could the technical and direct industry forums (general, coverage, software, hardware, tips & how to) be accessible to paid members only; if that is a way to be reasonably sure that the 'voices' in those forums are connected to our industry?
Now, when everybody blows back in response, remember there are two issues in this post; please express your views on both - they are quite different. |

Clayton,
It is true that I did suspend the membership in October of 2002. However, after doing so I received a number of emails requesting that it be reinstated ASAP. It was reinstated in February of this year. Links to the membership page can be found on almost all CADO pages. We have even received new members this month and renewals from long time members.
Any area of the forum as well as the site can be restricted only to paid members just like the member's forum is now. I do not believe that a restricted area of this type would see much action. We have had member only areas for least 5 or 6 years and none of them have seen much action. For example the current forum was started on 9/16/02 it contains 3 topics and 2 replies which have been read 200 times. |
